  • Being able to use the repair tool on the Penguins in Battlefield is obviously a reference to how birds are a government conspiracy and are actually recon drones.

    • Ok seriously I'm sick of that "birds aren't real" thing it stopped being funny after the first time now it's just annoying

    • Don't forget that the seagulls steal food for the rich people

    • What do you mean a reference? This is clearly an admission of guilt

    • Funny thing is one guy made that whole thing up for satire. It’s on ID-tv. On Vice’s channel, no less.

    • That why no birds in city in china

  • Not a developer on Paper Mario or with nintendo, but know enough about dev to be able to tell you what's going on at 4:30 So part of the development process typically involves modifying an existing game to prototype and iterate ideas before forking off into an entirely new build. Examples of this would be Animal Crossing New Horizons which started it's life as an internal mod for Animal Crossing New Leaf (See The Cutting Room Floor for more info on this). What has specifically happened herre is likely that this is a modified build of paper marior for prototyping an idea for an entirely different game started after the expected releases. Then a request was likely made for a build to be packaged and set for localisation for the subsequent korean release. The inclusion of all the pre-release assets are likely because a development build was packaged. Release builds have less assets despite coming later, because they have all these assets stripped out, but release builds do not replace development builds, they are just what gets released. Modifications for subsequent titles in the series (or entirely new IPs using the engine) would then be done in the development build. The reason those assets have creation dates *after* the release date is because they were as mentioned likely experimenting with ideas for another title in paper mario's engine with those assets, then when localisation required a build for a korean release, the development build was packaged and sent, and since localisers would be editing strings rather than the bulk of assets, these would have all been left in and slipped past build testing due to the mistake. TLDR: Cats are likely an abandoned or unreleased game being prototyped in paper mario's engine via modifying the dev build of paper mario.

    • @Herne Liedel yes what do you think their names will be?

    • the cats are so cute they should use them in a game sometime

    • Those were some good designs though

    • that makes sense

    • Well what should we name them?

  • The cry of fear one caught me so off guard, I was almost in tears. Funniest thing i've seen on this whole channel

    • You might say you cryed in fear

    • I love how it was made in 2012 when it's such a 2022 joke. Like, I probably have a Twitter mutual whose display name is "joe biden CBT" or some shit like that. Someone just managed to predict the shitposts of 2022 ten years early I guess.

    • @Shard 754 if you don't understand how gas prices work then just say so and we can help you

  • Haha, the way you showed it made it funnier. Thank you for featuring Cry of Fear in your video! /Andreas

  • The Pathfinder line, "I'm just a robot standing in front of a loser, asking them to die" might be a direct reference to Notting Hill's iconic quote : "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her." I've never played Apex Legends, but a lovable robot misquoting a chick-flick seems pretty in character.

    • pathfinder became sentient lol

    • Better in date movie

    • Was going to say something similar

    • @Canofcheese he just got angry and became semi-consious to say something about it

    • I've just dropped a comment saying the same, didn't realise someone else thought and commented the same.

  • The part about the microwave at 10:23 is incorrect. The microwave was accidentally invented in the 1940s by an engineer named Percy Spencer. When testing a new system called the magnetron (the thing in microwaves that create the 'microwave' to cook the food), he realized that it had melted a chocolate bar that was in his pocket. The thing with the hamsters did happen but the technology already existed during that time.

    • @RöRÖruRUru Blueblue Basically the difference is between industrial microwaves and personal microwaves. The industrial microwave was invented and patented earlier on, but the personal microwave was a result of experimentation done with cryogenically freezing hamsters

    • True, the microwave oven was also patented in 1945 in the USA, while the British scientists discovered the reanimating of frozen hamsters in the 1950s. Still an interesting bit of history there c:

    • So apparently it was accidentally invented by more than one person, so I guess that’s where he got it from

  • 6:24 For anyone who didn't already know, the Pathfinder dialogue is almost certainly a reference to a scene from the movie _Notting Hill (1999),_ wherein a character says, "I'm [also] just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."

    • I don’t get the line “ asking him to love her”

    • @Joe Public What's your point? You're disappointed that multiple people put in the effort to be helpful?

    • I am also the guy who made the submission! I also had no idea that it was a reference. Thank you for letting me know as well.

    • Someone else posted this 4 hours ago 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • One of the best Easter Egg Hunters and revealers out there

  • hurts my soul everytime I see a content creator destroying things for a joke =[. Other than that great stuff as always.

    • Thank you for subscribing, my good friend😍

    • @planescaped Get fake.

    • Get real.

    • @VLADZF haha Yeah. I love his videos, but he is a monster when it comes to that. I know they do this for entertainment and maybe way more ppl like it than don't. Who knows :P

    • Don't watch Caddicarus then, that guy destroys collectors items for a 6 second joke.

  • I hope there's always new content for this series, love getting to know about more hidden stuff ^-^

  • If you eject the disc while on the loading screen you'll have the same effect for DBZ! Also works on the loading screen with the cybamen from Tenkaishi, if you go long enough you get a red cybaman, then eventually a blue.

  • The entire Pathfinder "Quip wheel" in #6 is actually Mirage's quip wheel (a different character). Either he modded the game to do that, or it's glitched, because 1 character cannot have the quips of another. There was a bug recently where, after respawning from the dropship, you'd be a different character than the one you started as. Perhaps this "discovery" would be repeatable if (as possibly shown in this case) your quips don't update with your character. Meaning, start the game as Mirage and have the "Mirage a trios" quip bound, die, respawn as Pathfinder, and select the Mirage a trios quip, somehow linking to this unique pathfinder line?

  • I have a feeling this channel may actually have some influence on keeping easter eggs popular in games, despite intense deadlines typical of the industry. So much fun to see what people come up with, that Duck character skin is hilarious!

    • Thank you for subscribing, my good friend😍

  • I think I enjoy this channel so much because it feels like it could be a show on G4 (complimentary) and gives me a lot of nostalgia

  • This video was really amazing. More obscure and entertaining gaming mysteries and great writing this episode. Piece of tofu man made me laugh more than it should have.

  • Using the repair tool on penguins is actually a real life thing. I work as a full time penguin repair man. Most of my work is using the repair tool to repair penguins who have fallen foul to sharks. A few blasts of the repair tool and the penguins are as good as new. The repair tool doesn’t work on Seals incase anyone was wondering. The downside of my job, is you can’t drink coke on the job, or the polar bears hassle you until you hand it all over and don’t even bother bringing Pepsi to work, as that really angers said Polar Bears.

    • God bless our blue-collar workers

    • @Grizzly dino It’s a very skilled job. Hold that repair tool up to the penguin too long and it will spontaneously combust.

    • A comment by someone who repairs penquins, duhh.

    • What did I just read

  • This channel is honestly like a comfort blanket, but like a really high quality one that you look forward coming home to

  • The console destruction hurts me but I’m amazed by how often it happens. This episode is very good man, a lot of good finds!

    • I can't stand that bit. It comes off as extraordinarily wasteful. I know he probably buys bum consoles just for this purpose, but it's just so grossly consumerist, and I can't help but imagine him destroying a last-second fake as a joke and some kid getting a PSX instead. That would be, like, an _actually_ cool intro gag

    • @LankyLink no it’s an important point. You can criticize his actions but that’s pretty much all you can and should do.

    • @Israel thanks. And I agree logically, just hard to believe some times. And you sound like a well rounded good person. That's a rare treat these days. Keep being awesome!

    • @Kenneth Chou That's an incredibly terrible point.

    • @Nunayah Buisness yes that’s so true! I try not to judge too much either because I know some people just have values they’re trying to maintain but are not informed properly on certain subjects. But I still hope they will be open to learn about different people. That’s how I tend to approach it.

  • Man these videos are like a big part of my childhood and you’re STILL making them years later, keep up the good work man.

    • Côngratulations you have been selected among the shortlisted winner's for the ongoing Ps5 giveaway What'sapp the number above 👆..

  • What i love about this channel that he really digs up stuff that you never heard about before Other easter eggs appear in countless of videos making it less feel like an Underground secret

  • The console destruction hurts me but I’m amazed by how often it happens. This episode is very good man, a lot of good finds!

  • I remember that some of those PS2-era Dragon Ball games had interactive loading screens. Never imagined that there would be a crazy secret like the one hidden in Infinite World, though. Maybe there are some secrets in the other games' loading screens...?

  • Honestly this has to be the best series on this channel! Always learn something new about my favorite game's and brings me happiness knowing "Hey I played that game!" And just never knowing a secret within that game. Brings some closure lol

    • Que BeautifulAss.Online encantan tus Momento videos. Bendiciones hermosa Celina que Dios te cuide donde quiera.😘🎗️,..

    • @Flux_Time No there are many other things like out of bounds or craziest discovery's. The concept is the same however cover diffrent grounds.

    • It's the only series on this channel? If course it's the best? 😂

    • i like all his videos nothing stands out as the best for me

    • Don't read my name......................

  • i love this guy, he doesnt follow mainstream, he shares things people mostly dont know, and he is just overall a really good commentary channel.

  • Thanks for the videos Oddheader, Slippy , and Cassie! Always happy to see a video in the feed!👌

  • One of the best Easter Egg Hunters and revealers out there I swear!

  • Can we appreciate how this man is so dedicated to the bits and intros that he has destroyed his consoles lol

  • I actually half-performed the infinite world easter egg as a kid by taking out the disc while it was loading. I thought the easter egg was just the fact that the sky would turn dark though. I never stayed on that screen long enough to get the falling korrins.

    • @Noctina Tatakai I knew there's an easter egg in there! That's so cool!

    • @Noctina Tatakai did the same to my budokai 3 as a child, glad to know I’m not the only one ✨

    • Yep it works with budokai 3 too if you eject the disk you can summon a lot of saibamans and they start to turn out RED instead of the GREEN color version XD it was fun to watch at first but never tryed on other budokai games sadly =p

  • I don't know why but Oddheader calling a goose a duck really got me.

  • That one song that’s not meant to be found is the song “Gandi- Mexico City “ 🥶🥶🥶

  • #17 on Trending right now. I love seeing your videos get the attention that they deserve.

  • It hurts my soul every time you destroy a console, but I absolutely love your content, man. Been watching for years. Congrats to you and Cassie, super happy for you! :D

  • I look forward to every video you post in this series. Keep up the great work.

  • I wasn't expecting to see Tom Scott in an oddheader video but I'm glad to have lived in the universe that had this scenario written down

  • That Pathfinder voice line is actually pretty creepy.

    • @Bugged Mechanics! In that first one I was actually playing as Revenant and triggered the voiceline from him which makes it kinda creepier

    • The bizarre thing is when you watch the clips In the first one, it's an Octane and Bangalore and yet one of them says a Pathfinder line anyways In the second, he's Pathfinder but has Mirage quips and holosprays? It's weird. And it doesn't look like any of the modded versions, especially since first clip is Season 7. Modding is only available for up to Season 3 iirc.

    • Not once you know the context, its just a Julia Roberts/Notting Hill parody

  • hurts my soul everytime I see a content creator destroying things for a joke =[. Other than that great stuff as always.

  • Having those cats in a paper Mario game would be pretty cool actually. I love the clashing of paper craft/art styles and I’d love to see more things like that

  • The cry of fear one caught me so off guard, I was almost in tears. Funniest thing i've seen on this whole channel

  • Odd!! One of the greatest gaming content creators in the galaxy. Amazing video, naturally!!

  • y'know, i actually respect the cry of fear devs' decision on making that a hidden easter egg

  • Oddheader, you're the only channel I *IMMEDIATELY* watch new vids for. Your videos are awesome dude, cheers.

  • I’m happy to watch your videos every single time. Please stop destroying game consoles 😬

    • Thank you for subscribing, my good friend😍

    • @Awesome Face Its still a underwhelming waste. Its not funny or anything.

    • Hard agree on this one.

    • @Isabella Morris it’s just nonrepairable consoles most likely

    • In that shot I think he edits it so he puts a normal console on the ground, walks up to the console with the mower then does an invisible cut. The one you see on the ground after was already smashed up

  • You put so much effort into your vids and I always crack up at your intros and outros. I appreciate it, it really makes my day better!

  • Those always amaze me, I wonder how many old-school games that didn't became mainstream still have hidden easter eggs

  • These were really cool. Oddheader, could I ask you a question? Are the game systems fake or real?

  • Telling the developers about a secret is like reminding the teacher about homework

  • 5:40 I actually had this too! No other player I asked could explain it to me. I have a link to the clip here id-tv.org/tv/video-AHLRrzxKDiE.html What's strange is that I chose Revenant (A dark character) and selected a quip (voiceline) but instead of playing one of his lines it played a random out of character Pathfinder line that would fit Revenant more. It is by far the creepiest thing that's happened to me in Apex Legends. Some people were trying to help me trigger it again but we couldn't do it unfortunately. I got a response from a dev when I kept on asking about it and he said something about it being related to the storyline where Pathfinder and Ash "Broke Up"(I dont remember exactly what he told me) . I know a dev said that but I still found that hard to believe because it doesn't seem to make sense with the line. I asked some leakers as well and they couldn't find that voiceline for Pathy. But I'm happy I got a secret like that

  • I think I enjoy this channel so much because it feels like it could be a show on G4 (complimentary) and gives me a lot of nostalgia

  • Yeah, Cry of Fear still makes me scared even now. I still can't finish it due to the horror.

  • I love your videos and I know you've gotta take your time to do something really good, but one video a month really leaves me edging for more. Maybe you could just upload a quick extra video this month? :3

  • New Oddheader videos are always so exciting. What a great channel!

    • hes literally the only easter egg channel that i watch now. he just has so much fresh content compared to others!!

    • been watching for years, never missed a video cause hes that good

    • *id-tv.org/tv/video-vn8WdvkmTGs.html* Finally it's here *YES*

  • I absolutely ducking wheezed when the ducks showed up a second time in an entirely different game, though I completely lost it and was in tears from all the uncontrollable laughter when you revealed Cry of Fear’s flashlight’s secret message, just sayin’. 😆🤣😂

  • I remember the MK4 'hidden' bios. The one about Scorpion was hilarious

  • I love how you get so creep out by these eerie hidden easter eggs and buried content that you obliterate your consoles 😂😹

  • I love these. My curiosity was piqued when you mentioned Super Paper Mario.

  • A whole Zero Dawn playthrough with that duck model would be pretty funny AND awesome!

    • Thanks@SilverFlight01 appreciate the support!

    • @Slippy Slides Well, at least it was worth a try. Your work is great as always.

    • I did try... Unfortunately the game really doesn't like it and crashes at the cutscenes.

    • duck% Speedrun lol

    • *id-tv.org/tv/video-vn8WdvkmTGs.html* Finally it's here *YES*

  • Always love getting a new Oddheader video and seeing what content goes unused or hidden, especially one on my birthday.

    • @【Chucklebutt】 ʘ‿ʘ Thanks, I'll definitely try.

    • @【Chucklebutt】 ʘ‿ʘ 27

  • cry of fear also has an easter egg where typing something in the dev console during one of the boss fights turns it into joe biden

    • Good to know that Biden has at least one fan out there.

  • Having those cats in a paper Mario game would be pretty cool actually. I love the clashing of paper craft/art styles and I’d love to see more things like that

  • you should tweet at matt mercer about the pathfinder audio, given he's the voice actor. im sure he'd be happy to answer whatever questions you have.

  • This is literally my favorite channel on YT. Every video is so good!

  • A whole Zero Dawn playthrough with that duck model would be pretty funny AND awesome!

  • Being able to use the repair tool on the Penguins in Battlefield is obviously a reference to how birds are a government conspiracy and are actually recon drones.

  • Being able to use the repair tool on the Penguins in Battlefield is obviously a reference to how birds are a government conspiracy and are actually recon drones.

  • Learning about the Cry of Fear texture just makes me love the game so much more

    • @Jello Jiggler is jsut an easter egg, calm down, probably a joke on the forums (having in account back then he was only the VP)

    • I don't think a lot of people outside the US knew Joe Biden back in 2012. Interesting

    • @【Chucklebutt】 ʘ‿ʘ I meant, did it seem like the people who put the eggs in the game were either liberal or conservative based on the content of the eggs themselves. I didn't clarify bc I thought it was obvious.

    • Not really political at all yeah, Biden was just a meme in the cry of fear forums that made it into the full game, there was also a boss in either the main game or multiplayer whose projectiles could be turned into cubes with Biden's face.

    • @Halo Eight Productions I knew about the others like the secret boss and such, but not the flashlight lmao

  • Being able to use the repair tool on the Penguins in Battlefield is obviously a reference to how birds are a government conspiracy and are actually recon drones.

  • God I love some oddhead to start the day keep up the great work man

  • 2:16 Oh damn! This reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 2's theater mode where you could play a select few cutscenes from the game but replace the characters. You could have MGS1 Ocelot talking with a random guard or something. Wish more games would have modes like this... Imagine a Final Fantasy with that feature. 9:27 "Strangely enough, sales for Nocturne have skyrocketed at an alarming rate!"

  • Watching oddheader's videos feels like a christmas gift

  • The Dragon Ball one is awesome, I think this is the first time I see a developer creating a loading screen to indicate the game is broken

  • Having those cats in a paper Mario game would be pretty cool actually. I love the clashing of paper craft/art styles and I’d love to see more things like that

  • That Cry of Fear discovery was ahead of it's time... wow

    • Everything about Cry of Fear is ahead of it's time

  • Watching in the dark in bed at midnight, that shaking face jumpscare from the second to last game actually creeped me out

  • What the hell does Oddheader have against innocent Sony consoles?!

    • Joe Biden owned one

    • A lawn mower

    • @Alfalfa Anand probably just a model. If it wasn’t, I’d genuinely be disgusted if he was destroying consoles like that

    • pretty sure he did destroy an Xbox on camera once.

    • @CurtUmbrella something something "This is Sparta"

  • This might be stretching it, but the duckman skin from 'Horizon: Zero Dawn' could possibly be a reference to the 90's animated tv show 'Duckman', which was about an anthropomorphic duck detective. It explains the legacy character part on the sandwich board.

  • Waking up to an upload from this channel is like waking up to a steaming thanksgiving turkey delivered straight to your room.

  • I'm always happy to see oddheader upload, instant like before I even start watching

  • I hope there's always new content for this series, love getting to know about more hidden stuff ^-^

    • @DeadManRang Yep.. Unfortunately that's what keeps happening nowadays.. Anywho, gonna do my duty and report it :)

    • @beyond your imagination the kind of comment I expect when I saw the "1 reply"

    • Finally it's here. *id-tv.org/tv/video-vn8WdvkmTGs.html*

  • 10:29 TIL the whole hamster cryogenics puzzle in Day of the Tentacle was literally themed around James Lovelock's actual experiments. The original Maniac Mansion thing must have been a reference too, but who would have guessed the tentacle race would, by 2192, inadvertently perfect microwave technology for its original intended purpose of non-lethally thawing rodents 😁

  • Thanks again for another great informative and interesting video sir 👍

  • For the DBZ one in a previous game, all you had to do to trigger an infinite loading screen was to take the disk out during the loading screen

  • I saw those cats from Super Paper Mario in another video where I think they went a little more in-depth. Now I don't quite remember my whole reasoning, but it seemed to me as if that whole area could have been intended as some kind of sub-story for Tippi. Like, Timpani maybe used to be one of those cat people and you were supposed to learn how she met Count Bleck (or Blumiere rather) inbetween chapters. Maybe it was supposed to be like the Peach events in the first 2 Paper Mario games and you slowly find out that this cat girl in this side story is actually Tippi with each completed chapter. But in the end they decided to scrap it and just use those short story telling sequences after each chapter.

  • A whole Zero Dawn playthrough with that duck model would be pretty funny AND awesome!

  • Oh! I've heard that Pathfinder line before! My friends are really into Apex Legends so I'll play with them or watch pretty frequently. I hear it randomly and I'm pretty sure it's a placeholder voice line when another cannot load. It's not a select able choice in the menu.

  • Two amazing cat-themed discoveries! Hell yeah! I have no idea how anyone would even think to find that last one given that it requires a load screen to play for five minutes straight. And of course, I love the catpeople designs in the Paper Mario one.

  • Your videos are amazing! Please go into detail I'd love longer videos!

  • The Pathfinder line is a reference to a quote from Notting Hill. "I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."

    • STOP

    • This explanation actually makes a lot of sense. Thank you. I've had this moment in my head for nearly 2 years.

    • @wheedler Considering that the sound fits more towards Pathfinder's original concept of being a murder bot and being the original legend in terms if development...It would make sense that the sound is the "Sound-001" so to speak. Usually they don't intend for default sounds to happen and they default sound typically comes from the first sound clip in a register...which is what I'm assuming is causing it to become the default sound

    • I was looking 4 this

    • @Cinnastag Weird default sound, but you're the dev, I guess.

  • The Mortal Kombat one was pretty messed up, I cannot believe the devs would leave something so sickening in the game

  • There's actually a lot of clips online about that spider man model swap. Sometimes the game just accidently grabs random objects near you and replaces you entirely.

  • Love to see Cry of Fear being mentioned. Its an amazing game that everyone should play or watch Pyrocynicals Video on it

  • I always feel excited when I see a new oddheader video and I have no idea why

  • That damn Cry Of Fear easter egg got me good XD. Oh and as for the white cube In Spider Man? (That’s his web box lol) Sometimes models In games have a cube Inside them, this Is one of those times, Spider Man has a white cube Inside him (which Is a separate model), and the model of Spider Man failed to load, causing In only the white cube to appear.

    • Well Well Well,... aren't we solving all the questions.

  • I find myself checking the channel to see if theres a new video out, more often than I should. Always a rad day when a new vid finally pops up.

  • MK4, Cry of Fear and Dragon Ball Z in one list? This is basically perfect for me 🤣

  • 10:30 okay can I say that I know for a fact that this is completely false? I remember reading how Percy Spencer had a chocolate bar in his pocket and then walked in front of a military grade magnetron, only to later find that the bar had melted. Subsequent experiments led to the creation of the microwave, which were originally as large as a current day refrigerator and reserved for restaurants and trains

  • I have encountered the pathfinder thing and you can actually hear it playing during some finishers, for some reason though they aren't for pathfinder finishers.

  • The cat stuff from Super Paper Mario is super interesting to me. Makes me wonder what was going on with the cats and more contrasting art-styles.

    • Could be different artists making their own avatars.

    • @Phoxphorus yes, Is probably another case like super Mario Bros 2 usa and doki Doki panic, take the engine of an existing game and change basically everything, characters, settings etc

    • @Zontar82 I can believe that. I remember hearing about the subject a few years ago and most of those maps barely look compatible with Super Paper Mario's structure. The map structure almost feels like what you'd expect from classic Paper Mario which is REALLY weird to think about.

    • probably an entire different game that was changed last minute to paper mario for korean market

  • Love your videos man, but the pathfinder one is pretty normal, he does have a cheerful demeaner towards his teammates, but when it's towards the enemies, he does have some smack talk voice lines, that's nothing out of the ordinary tbh

  • I would like to point out that the in-game endings (at 8:05) also appear in the arcade original, the CGI ones are in the PS1, PC and the "MKGold" Dreamcast version.
