  • Listening to Steve Martin explaining the difference of the 40 + years between the Katana's, he missed the main point. i am a child of the 80's motorcycles and it was awesome. You rode these bikes on the seat of your pants. Parts scraping going through bends, handle bar shakes, wobbles in corners and carburetor lag. These all made riding a 80's motorcycle exciting and awesome. With all the tech on today's bikes, launch control, controlled roll on and so we can go on, I think, makes riding boring. So who out there is with me.

  • 100% top footage, I was there, mixed it up in the garages, everyone is so Pro at Phillip Isle, met the USA Team on track day and a bunch of great riders etc,... 'Live the Life'.

  • I agree 1000%! , the Live on-board cam shots of riders zipping thru a few corners finds ME leaning in my seat as if Iโ€™m right there with them! Thanks for the upload folks, I honestly get โ€œchills & thrills โ€œ every time I watch this shit! ( almost choked on Beer!!! Lol) Cincy,U.S.A.

  • Ken Locus should really cut his nose hair ya can go walkabout in that bush. Lol

  • Thats are very hot bikes!!! on the racetrack. Oh my god, birds on the racetrack!!!

  • Love this vid, love the circuit, love the racing, by fuck were the boys on it... But have to say, sorry to the aussie commentator that said Phillip Island is the fastest road race in the world... Nah son, that'll be the "North West 200" in Ireland.. And of course the Holy Grail, the "Isle of Man tt" baby.. !!!!

  • When people are lying motionless after a crash the audience deserves an update WTF is that

    • Yeah i thought exactly the same thing, wtf don't even aknowledge if the poor guy is alive? He looked like he might had died. weird commentary.

    • ::feels grateful for timely update on rider injuries::

  • Wow! This is great guys. Gracias!

  • living past good stuff

  • We must have a fat, bald silverback mingling with the white women, mustn't we? I see enough of that shit on a daily basis here in the states.

  • What a great event ! I never knew this existed. Thank you so much for uploading this ! I definitely need to see this in person.

  • Great

  • Suzuki and Honda fast....Yamaha slow

  • Seeing these bikes ridden so well in 1080 or HD! Dual rear shocks, dry clutches, sliding the rear, 1:36-1:37 lap times. Great job men! People with 1980's sport bikes should cherish these gems and maybe get them to vintages races. Best racing video I've seen in ages. I would love to see this series grow.

  • Awesome!

  • Beautiful land and interesting country. TO BAD YOU ARE ALL SLAVES WITH NO RIGHTS ! FOOLS. I BET THE AMERICANS CANโ€™T WAIT TO GET BAD TO THE LAND OF FREEDOM.

  • Wow they were really going for it, I hadn't expected that when they showed the beer drinking and barbecuing at the beginning I guess once the visor goes down it becomes serious business.

  • This is the best stuff I've seen on a tv screen since the Moto GP of 2007. This stuff is awesome and huge thanks for sharing. I could watch this kind of racing every day. Outstanding!

  • I don't understand why motorcycle racing isn't more popular in North America. This is 100 times more exciting to watch than NASCAR ever could be, seriously! That said, this era of bikes are way better to watch than today's fully sensored self driving MOTO GP bike. I'd love to see some of todays superstars get on a 1978 TZ 750 where a 1/4 throttle is either a pass or it powerbands you into the fuckin rhubarb bush : )

  • a man is not a robot

  • slowly

  • A Leonard de Vinci qui a dรฉfinit 5 classes d etudes au niveau temporel: cette piste est faite pour les side car, ou plus civilement, les boules de feu

  • So many Kawasakis

  • Brilliant, loved it when I saw the live racing in 2010

  • This is Great !! Love it !

  • Jesus H Christ what a terrible crash!!! How the hell Beaton wasn't smashed by his bike is a bloody miracle. Great to see proper bikes hammering round the island and good to see JR out there too. I remember watching him back in the day dominating BSB on the lime green Kawasaki.

  • Emma who?

  • Carl Cox is a credit to the sport. Vision, ambition, respect for the heritage of the bikes and races. An all round clever and respected guy.

  • good GAWD, man....Beau Beaton 'Superman' launched off his Vincent @22:45 and dang lucky he didnt get crushed by his own machine !!

  • What happened to the brit team this year? Did they get disqualified for winning too often.๐Ÿ˜

  • When the US first came out they thought it was for hits & giggles....then realised it was for sheep stations!!!๐ŸคฃItโ€™s one of the best events on the calendar โ€œDown Underโ€. Honestly guys jump on a plane if possible & come out!!! Youโ€™ll love it as we do! The American riders had a ball & were bloody great to have out here along with all riders from O/S!!! The best part is you get to walk around the pits, the garages, talk to these legends, get autographs ,get photos & feel a part of the whole weekend!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  • Reminds me of the Transatlantic Challenge Match Races held in Britain in the 70's and 80's. It was held at 3 circuits over Easter Weekend (Brands Hatch on Good Friday, Oulton Park on Easter Saturday and Mallory Park on Easter Monday, although it would later be raced at Donington in the later years). The top American and British riders of the day raced in it over 9 races over the 3 events so it was like a who's who of the day. Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson, Kevin Schwantz, Barry Sheene, Steve Parrish, John Newbold, Mick Grant to name a few all raced in it. Sadly all attempts to revive it have failed but loved going and watching them race and all the support races that went with it.

    • @mech5 fab That is good news and I hope it comes to fruition :)

    • paul maxey I recently heard an interview with MotoAmerica president Wayne Rainey,He was talking about bringing back match races.

  • That was great coverage of a exciting race right to the last corner ,all the super bikes from the eighties bring back memories for old fat low talent riders like myself ,now nice and safe at home watching magnificent racing thanks .

  • Is there a particular reason for the year of these bikes?

  • Thank you guys for uploading/broadcasting this amazing event!!

  • Thanks for the upload....great to see John Reynolds out there..๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  • like the racing but this is shit . why not new Zealand riders ! in the nz team!

  • Didnt know FJ were water cooled mine aint

  • Show us the dinosaurs FJ1200/1250

  • I think on the next years, I'm hoping to see an FZ 750 or even a Z1...

  • Wanted to enjoy watching this and after starting to realized that there were no 2strokes in it Not interested.

  • 24:19...the commentator said he went over the bar like superman... O.o

  • Did you forget to profile the New Zealand team at the start - you covered Australia and the USA? I guess there's no much tourist $ from New Zealand though.

    • @David Turner my reply was in response to pwollerman asking about the NZ Team rider profiles, nothing to do with any other groups or where they came from.

    • @John Crocombe nearly half were recruited from the UK it appeared

    • I believe the New Zealand riders were introduced at about the 9:18 mark.

  • Thanks for sharing, I have been to Melbourne, AUS once before, super nice folks there, thanks for your hospitality.

  • Beaton deserved mention by these commentators - how is he? Must say when Quartterly was mentioned I knew this was heavy - Hayes is a treat, bet he's going to mention the accident

  • ใ‚ชใƒฉใ‚‚ๅ‚ๆˆฆใ—ใŸใ„๏ฝž๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  • Awesome event after watching this I am going to ride my bike ๐Ÿ down to watch it live next year

    • purple Ninja Do it!!! U wonโ€™t regret it๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜Ž

  • Love it

  • Great stuff. Brings back memories of the early Superbike days. Need Eddie Lawson on the green 21...

  • Should get the Bostrom brothers & Rodger Hayden on team USA

    • B-Boz, E-Boz, either or both Kenny Jr and Kurtis Roberts, Ben Spies if someone can find him, Colin Edwards, Jay Springsteen, Chris Carr if you could get him on asphalt. The US isn't hurting for guys who could run this event and do well for themselves. Or have a ball and not care.

    • They would be an awesome addition to team USA

  • Great video. Thank you for sharing.

  • Being in the US but a big motorcycle race fan I can't believe I had never heard of this event before. Thank you for sharing. I support all racers but having met Hayes several times it am very pleased for him and he really really is a hard working humble guy. It's no act.

    • Kevin X you should check out Greg's garage podcast. Hosted by Greg White with co-host Jason Pridmore they talked about this race and the crash.

  • I went there on the Sunday, was a great meeting. My first race meeting back since I gave up road racing in the 1980's it was great to see lots of bikes like I used to race.

    • @gm16v149 not here in the US. They don't televise NONE of the bike races anymore. Other than motorcross and supercross. We need to build up our fan base here. It's pretty sad!

    • Thereโ€™s bound to be something on ID-tv but it might take a while. Forecast is for perfect weather for the weekend for WSB. Itโ€™ll be on one of the sport channels on TV for sure. Iโ€™ll be there on Sunday.

    • That's awesome fellas! I tell you what, id give a testicle to spend a week half way across the world from me at that BEAUTIFUL place!!! ๐Ÿ˜† do you guys know if the world superbike race will be uploaded to ID-tv? Love to see that.

    • @gm16v149 Yes the good thing about the classic races was freedom to drive or ride around and get good spectator spots as well as free pit access. I did a vid and got some goods pics too in the pits. I'm looking at going Sunday for the super bikes too.

    • Same here, went there on the Sunday. Perfect day, and itโ€™s not too crowded, so you can ride around the perimeter and go into the pits, all without the massive crowds of the MotoGP. Donโ€™t forget this weekend is World Superbikes down there.

  • Great racing, Fantastic looking bikes. All these years later and the Katanas still look amazing, thanks from a cold and grey Europe.

    • David Turner Yep thank God I took the Triumph Thruxton 2010 & not the 1980 R100s airhead Beemer๐Ÿ˜Ž

    • @Andrew D aren't you happy your bike is water cooled rather than an air cooled bike like some of those old bikes hey crazy

    • Stuart Brown Only if youโ€™re stupid enough to ride in it!!!๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿฅต....apparently we were๐Ÿ˜‚

    • @Andrew D 46C๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฑ you can keep that must be horrendous.

    • Whilst speaking of grey Europe, the Friday my mates & I rode the 360km down to the Island from country Victoria, the weather was an โ€œordinaryโ€ 46C!!!!๐Ÿ˜ฒ Comprehend that!!!๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคช

  • I think the commentators comment about PI being the fastest racetrack might be taking Aussie pride a bit too far ๐Ÿ˜€

  • why not brits team

    • Maybe they got banned for winning g to often.๐Ÿ˜

    • we normally have a full team , even someone I knew many years ago rode in it nick allison

    • There was a lot of UK riders in various classes over the event. The International was just one series of races during the 3 day meeting.

  • Who the heck disliked this and why? This is good stuff

    • tesla scabs probably

    • The accents mate

  • How the fuck can Rennie Scaysbrook compete as an American? fucking bullshit! you just lost a fan Rennie!

  • Thank you for this video! Unfortunately I'm heading to work, but can't wait till I get to watch the whole thing.

  • Great to see our USA boys out there putting up a fight. But also, I have always loved watching and listening to Steve Martin commentate a race, and it's absoutly AWESOME to see the old fella ๐Ÿ˜‰ out there in the fight as well. Great job fellas. And thanks for the upload. Loving this!!!!

    • Be great if we could get some more USA guys out here and maybe even some premier riders like Mamola, Spencer or Cooley etc.
