  • i like how we go into literally investigating multiverses just to know if a monkey can beat minecraft

    • Haha

    • repent g

    • At least we know it will be worth it in the end

    • You literally just gave a different version of the title. I hate this.

    • Asking the real questions

  • "Monkeys are not gamers" I am literally crying right now!!1! 😭

  • i love how he puts that much genuine effort into a meme

  • I actually got a more likely possibility, basically, lets assume theres 12 "buttons" you can press, this may approximately accounts for wasd space scrolling and some cardinal mouse movement. The WR SSG record is around 2 minutes, and multiplying the number of seconds by 20 gives how many ticks their are in that time, 20*2*60. (1/(2^12))^(20*2*60) is the likelyhood assuming set seed, so just multiply it by 1 / (2^64) to get that same seed. Computing this number, you get something about 8689 digits long. This is also not considering how their can be much easier worlds that exist for the monkeys to find, both in terms of time and technical ability to perform [so 4 minutes @ 5 inputs per second with a control N of ~9 would give a muchhh lower number, which is a run im sure can exist] honestly though? I feel in actuality I feel it would be a lot closer to maybe 1 / 10^65 or something as monkeys are intelligent beings, and im sure with enough monkeys you can start racking up a decent amount that understands more and more about the game combined with some luck. At a certain point (wayyyy before this number) you will probably get human level intelligence monkeys by just random genetic mutations in spawning in that many damn monkeys

  • On a practical level, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be dealing with monkeys pressing keys randomly. A monkey could probably handle the idea of "immersion" and learn to actually move their character around, and possibly even combat. Broader-scope issues like farming might be tougher....

    • @Triumph263 Good point, even humans have trouble with figuring out the Minecraft world. Humans deal with that by *telling* each other about things, but that's kind of a weak point for other primates....

    • And certain concepts like creating a nether portal, creating eyes of ender, and going to the end, require massive leaps of logic that aren't really intuitive. Ruined portals *might* hint at nether portals enough to guess them, and the purpose of eyes of ender would be self explanatory once the portal was found but this is far beyond what most people could guess without additional information.

  • we know monkes are so wise they could beat the rsg wr by 3 minutes.

    • @Soda_Can they also have enchanting 60 and alchemy 50

    • @Soda_Can I see a hypixel skyblock player Edit: I forgot igblon's channel was a skyblock related channel xd

    • Or perfect touhou 11 on lunatic mode 10 times in a row.

  • igblon when he graduates: meh igblon when a robot looks down and left clicks: OMG YESSSS

    • @MagnaSHAKE wut

    • @whoppers good job were all proud of you

    • first comment from a hearted and 330 liked comment

  • If you ever feel sad just remember that somewhere in the Cosmic space there is a universe where a monkey beat Minecraft

  • Give them a good gaming chair and see what happens then

    • @Brandonbombplays ok? ass (yes i "swore" haha) more os usually means its funnier to them like bro literally no one cares if they make a mistake in grammar

    • @ZENITH wut It’s just a grammar correction He said laughing my (swear word go here) off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off

    • @Brandonbombplays weep about thine actions

    • @Brandonbombplays loooool

  • This like that age old Geometry Dash question: “If you put an infinite amount of monkeys in front of Geometry Dash and give them 1 attempt can even one of them beat the hardest level ever completed by a human (rated level)” The current hardest rated level right now is Tartarus, so can a monkey beat Tartarus? The obvious notion is that yes one would be able to beat the level because there are infinite monkeys, but it’s not that simple. The reason this question is so difficult to answer is that there are some extremely hard parts in the level that require you to click quite fast like 10cps+ that also requires precision, is it even possible for a monkey to click that fast anyways? Plus in certain parts you have to click once for an extremely short time and immediately let off the mouse and get ready for the next click, does a Monkey have good enough hand dexterity to even do that? As you can see this question gets trickier and trickier to answer the more you dive down the rabbit hole.

    • an infinite amount of monkeys CAN do anything because quantum fluctuations !!1

    • infinite means infinite possibilities. since there are an infinite amount of monkeys, and they're probably not all the same, one of them will eventually beat the hardest level, and one of them will beat the hardest level and all of the other levels. it just takes time

    • GD has 1 input instead of multiple such as Minecraft so the probability is significantly higher. Still insanely, insanely rare tho

    • I thought the question was "given an infinite amount of monkeys, can at least one beat bloodbath?"

  • Reject modernity, return to gaming monke

  • Now, i can see some flaws in this hypothesis: firstly, this is the MAXIMUM amount of time & monkeys needed to beat minecraft. Secondly, this doesn’t take into account the time and resources needed to keep the monkeys alive and healthy to play minecraft, which would take away from the time that they play minecraft, meaning the real maximum amount of time needed would effectively be longer. However, the third flaw i can see is the fact that evolution and extinction (bar the inevitable heat death of the universe) are not taken into account. Both of these variables could drastically change how long it could take for a monkey to be minecraft or the amount of monkeys needed to be minecraft. If a monkey evolved to become even more intelligent, almost to the point of human kind, it would take far less time and monkeys; although it would take a long time for monkeys to evolve, it is far less time than the end of everything. On the other hand, if monkeys go extinct, or become endangered, that would put a hard stop on the experiment or limit the amount of monkeys respectively.

    • he is immortal monke

    • @Larson hehe, i was somewhat joking. although you do have a point, akshually humans are primates themselves and are the most populous species of primates. so suffice to say there is a very high chance they will overtake the game well before any other primate species does it.

    • we are basically evolved monkeys anyway

    • But what about the photsynthesis

  • We have to spend our precious time left on this earth to answer questions like this, love this vid

  • Can't the portal room just be exposed in a ravine so the monkey only has to click one silverfish block? EDIT: Also since you're on 1.9+ versions, unless it's extremely rare you cannot spawn 1000 blocks away from spawn, unless the monkey is playing on bedrock edition EDIT 2: Just found out 1.12 can spawn you in the stronghold ring, nevermind

    • Any block can be overwritten by an air block generated by a structure such as a ravine so in theory it could be possible to spawn and then immediately be in the end.

    • @Wizard Rex until he spawns the wither

    • @Soup VODs but it would be eaisier

    • i hope the monke isnt playing on bedrock, it wouldnt have as good of a time

    • ☝... 👍

  • This is probably the most bizarre way this much science have been used by anyone by a great margin

  • 4:20 "Monkeys are not gamers" NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • A quick rule of thumb is that if a 4 year old human can beat minecraft, then a monkey can, as a fully grown great ape has roughly the mental capacity of a 4 year old, and can communicate most efficiently with humans out of any type of monkey, via sign language, which is possible due to their hands being very similar to humans, which also means it would be easy for a monkey to use human gaming equipment. also, monkeys can be taught basic reading skills, so switching the language file from english to simplified English and installing a mod like just enough items to assist with crafting recipes would yield a decent chance at a monkey beating minecraft within a few dozen attempts, assuming a human taught the monkey the basics beforehand (ie, the controls, the menus, advancements screen, jei interface, etc). it would also help if the monkey was on a older version of minecraft that doesnt have as much overwhelming content, but isnt too difficult that it's hard for a monkey to persevere through it. 1.8 would be a good balancing point in my opinion, and with these conditions, i think you could tell a monkey "beat the ender dragon" and there would be a large enough chance that there isnt a need to involve the infinite monkey theorem that he/she would get all the necessary information from the game itself and (eventually) beat the enderdragon Edit: I finished watching the video and it wouldnt have to stay still for 27 hours, the chances are significantly higher if the monkey can wander off and come back before the dragon perches

    • This. The video assumes a monkey is a literal single-cell organism who would actually need to do only random inputs to beat the game. Doesn't detract from the video though, but kinda discredits monkeys way more than necessary. The video wants no human-interference, but even if you were to put it with those restrictions, gathering a million monkeys would probably not require an entire lifetime for one of them to randomly beat the game.

  • it would be more likely for a monkey to learn some mechanics and beat the game than for it to be random

    • yeah

  • There is also the thing about pixels and light that could impair the vision of the game severely.

  • Genuinely appreciate the amount of effort put into these kinds of videos

  • 15:12 The chances of a monkey randomly getting ontop of a pillar (excluding the falldamage shenanigans and the repetition of the enderdragon jumps) aren't 3% at all! I think you were asuming that there's an equal chance for each outcome to happen (i.e. distance: not far enough, too far and just right), but that isn't the case at all. If we only look at hight for example, there are two things that we need to account for: 1.What's the enderdragons kb (how many blocks) 2. What would be our margin of error? (let's say 10 blocks, because of the radius of the end pillar and the monkey could strafe a bit back.) If the enderdragon would only be able throw you 140 blocks in the air (only assuming hight here, as if all the kb of the enderdragon would hit the monkey upwards there wouldn't even be a way for him to make it towards the pillar). There'd be a 10/140 or 1/14 chance that the monkey would land on the end pillar, ONLY assuming hight. This thought process also has to be applied to the yaw and distance of the throw, which would be way smaller than 3%. Anyways I wish you a nice day IGBLON and if any of you readers have something to add please leave a reply! (And I get that there's a chance this was done for simplicity's sake, but my brain still wanted this out there.)

    • I was thinking the same thing, theres an equal chance of all 3 things happening, but theyre all seperate values and not one main chance

  • There’s a flaw, when calculating the percent chance of having a lucky end spawn (20%) you have to add that to the percent chance of the monkey going to another 12 eye portal because they will have to restart (same thing with dying in the end)

  • So a monkey gets a new world every day but it will take 27 hours to kill the dragon randomly? Ok maybe I’m taking this to seriously

  • this question was an unexplainable mystery for so long until this guy finally proved it right...

  • I like how this man gave us a whole understandable lecture about can a monkey beat mincraft

  • With enough monkeys one of them will recreate 100% accurately top 1 speedrun world record

    • @Nie ma Nie ma 😂😂

    • or recreate dream speedrun.

    • probability is wonderful isnt it

  • Actually, if there were infinite attempts minecraft would be beaten an infinite amount of times.

    • It would be done infinitely, but only a set proportion of said infinitely.

    • @Androov if we take infinite parallel universes into consideration, there shoud be one where a monkey beats minecraft 1st try, cause thats how it works

    • @Secret well he mentioned an infinite amount of tries in the start and then changed it.

    • @Secret I mean, when you start to consider the parallel universes, the whole point just comes up to amount of parallel universes (because, there is infinite amount of parallel universes)

    • No, he used a finite amount of finite universes with a finite amount of monkeys.

  • If they get a new seed every day then how do they punch the dragon to death if it takes 27 hours?

    • if they fail that is

  • Love the idea but this feels too chance based, making multiple macros and teaching the monkeys when to use each one will higher the chances of monkeys breathing the game as each macro will do a different thing

  • Breaking news: Monke kills dragon, thats weird

  • 17:55 Now hold on, the monkey doesn't have to stay at the center. It can wander around randomly and clicking the dragon 200 times probably won't take _that_ long. These absurd odds, raising the orders of magnitude of probability by orders of magnitude, is just the odds it would happen immediately. Instead you should use the 1% chance the monkey is at the center at any given time, so 2700 hours = about four months.

  • Here’s some things that could help the theorem: You don’t need to worry about a monkey’s age, since they reproduce A monkey would not fall in the void in the end, as you said a monkey can tell that a cliff is dangerous A monkey could also randomly break a chest, and if it broke a good one like a blacksmith chest it could get a sword that would kill the dragon faster or equip a piece of armour that could let him survive falls from the pillars

  • They can beat Minecraft alright… By physically beating up the computer.

  • imagine the monkey is one hit away from killing the ender dragon, but then decides to walk off the edge into the void

  • This guy is an actual genius

  • 1 question: How can a monkey kill the dragon in 27 hours IF the monkey's world gets reset every 24 hours ?

    • That is the EXPECTED amount of time it would take if they were facing in a random direction and punching in a random direction. The monkey in this case would get EXTREMELY lucky and kill the dragon in a shorter amount of time

  • I'm starting to think that the computer voice is igblon's real voice.

    • @dh4 bruh this is more enlightening then my table lamp.

    • it is

  • Does this mean that igblon is smarter than Albert Einstein because he figured this out?

    • @Benjamin gutierrez oh nah bro

    • Holy shit

    • While I will not negate the possibility of igblon being smarter than Einstein, i will say this, Einstein did not know about Minecraft... Because he is an old man.

    • Since when was he not

  • you missed the fact that the monkeys take 27 hours to kill the dragon, meaning they cant do it in the ay they have on that seed.

  • You should've let the simulation learn after every experience. So when the monkey has been gaming for years it would learn the basics of minecraft

  • Cave update: *I'm about to ruin this whole man's c̶a̶r̶e̶e̶r̶ math* (Odds of dying by fall damage in a cave before reaching the end portal which can be 64 blocks extra lower down)

  • couldnt there be a chance that a monkey would eventually learn how to move properly or aim properly or even how to beat a whole section of the game flawlessly

    • definitely, monkeys will 100% learn what to do in certain scenarios

  • There's some game knowledge mistakes and big assumptions here, but still a fun video! One major one was that strongholds can actually spawn ocean-exposed, so no digging would be necessary.

    • @Julia_1439 yes but after breaking the silverfish block a silverfish would appear and start damaging the monkey and the monkey would not know at all what was going on and would just keep pressing random buttons maybe occasionally hitting the silverfish but it would be insanely rare for the monkey to be able to kill it as it moves very quickly and is small and the monkey would not have aim and probably not high cps as well. as for the strongholds generating above ground im pretty sure this has only happened on bedrock edition

    • @CosmicWasteXD_ @Exotic Kennith i don't remember the video too well so i may be missing over some details here, so i'm sorry if so: rarity shouldn't be an issue as we're just considered with possibility at scales of these lengths; if a monkey can randomly dig down it can randomly swim down; and breaking a block to enter is the easy part because silverfish-infested blocks could be mined instantly. side note: strongholds or their portal rooms can also generate above ground as crazy as that sounds, but i'm unsure about what conditions are necessary for that.

    • yea cuz that would be even rarer and the monkey would have to swim down randomly and break at least one block to get in

    • Is it ocean exposed right next to spawn with 12 eyes already in?

  • "Thank you for coming to this ted talk" *20 Minutes talking about monke and minecraft*

  • you forgot to calculate for when the monkey dies he has to press respawn to continue but he also has the chance to click go back to menu and end the run

  • don't underestimate monkeys, they could definitely do it in like 2 days

  • "leaving hypixel skyblock is a bad idea" - igblon a little ago

  • Are you sure the monkey would actually end up liking how the dragon turns red when clicked?

  • I would consider even some wolves able to beat Minecraft. Although their keyboards would have to be adjusted.

  • This is basically a monkey being blind and clicking random buttons. In actuality the monkey would interpret the game, albiet very weakly. It would see the buttons, push or click, and see the screen suddenly change, scaring it but eventually one would connect that pushing a button makes the screen change

  • Drinking game : take a shot every time chance or randomly or monkey is mentioned

  • This proves that we can watch absolutely anything.

  • I love how his videos are atleast 20m long and all about useless topics

  • Technically if there’s an infinite amount of monkeys, an infinite amount of them will beat the game on the first try, an infinite amount of them will beat it on the second try, and so on. Anything divided by infinity is just infinity.

    • He's ending it on heat death

  • The infinite monkey typewriter theory is inherently flawed because it assumes that every possible combination will be done, which it won't, that's not how monkeys on typewritters work

  • If we teach the monkies, we could bring the amount of tries down to be reasonable within our life time.

  • i mean if you think about it, we technically play minecraft randomly except we have knowledge and the percentage of stuff happening increases or decreases depending on how good the idea is

  • brings highrolling in a speedrun to a whole new level

  • The moment when a little dumb monkey kills a huge interdimensinable dragon, who gets even support from magical healing crystals 😐

  • This is one of the most difficult problems to solve

  • monkes would evolve sapience, realize minecraft is a game, and play it for fun far sooner than this

  • But a monkey gets a new try everyday? Wouldn't the monkey take 27 hours to kill the dragon? So he would spend millions of years trying to kill a dragon, and when he gets to the end, he gets reset?

  • still more likely than dream's luck

  • If the monkey has dreams luck he would beat minecraft every single run

    • (7,500,000,000 chance)

  • i thought it was a short meme he is actually serious and i love it

  • today we're gonna see if a monkey can beat minecraft but first we need to talk about parallel universes

  • How monkey gamer is still alive after destroying end crystal with standing next to it ? Edit: How a monkey gamer is still slive after jumping of a obsidian pillar?

  • Igblon does insane math then uses a calculator to do 20/1

  • If a monkey were to figure out how to place blocks, they might try and build an environment similar to their own. Some time in the future, they might also figure out tools can mine blocks faster and what might kill them. Curiosity would also increase the chance of them finding and experimenting with things. I mean, how hard would it be for a human to figure out how to play Minecraft without any knowledge? Difficult, but capable of learning. Monkey's are not at a very large disadvantage to a human attempting to play Minecraft without any knowledge.

  • Even I can't, I just farm sugar cane on a minecraft server based in chicago whose server owner has a cute sloth in his profile picture

  • monkey: *does it on the first try* IGoByLotsOfNames: bruh

  • Imagine the monkey falling of the obsidian pillar and doing a block cluch

  • All of the math in this video could be completely wrong, and I would ever notice lol

  • 1. Awesome video 2. You calling a Python script a “macro” is telling of your age & expertise 👀

  • "Monkeys are not gamers" Tiquan: Am I a joke to you???!!

  • You said it would take 27 hours for a monkey to kill the ender dragon, but you give the monkey a new world every day 24 hours < 27 hours, so you will be giving the monkey a new game before he has enough time to complete it

  • dont forget about the whole thing where a monkey very well could just get lucky and win on the first attempt, the numbers are the chance, which means it can still occur at any time

  • Also the monkeys will take damage and starve so it'd take much longer

  • Most efficient solution I see is to put an advanced brain-machine interface into a monkey. Either make the monkey smarter in general, or just specifically teach it Minecraft. Through this method, with enough motivation, I think you could see a monkey beat Minecraft in our lifetime.

  • Am I seriously watching this at midnight while I have to go college soon ? Yes, yes I am and I love it

  • This video honestly deserves more views than just 20k

  • When Igblon realisizes that if we're considering parallel universe then we (basically) know it's possible without any calculations:

  • 0:40 eventually the monkey could theoretically beat the minecraft world record with lucky enough button presses

  • when the school project can be on anything…

  • This feels like kracc bacc explaining quantum technology

  • Holy shit, this dude is talented...

  • next video: can a monkey beat the speedrun world record in minecraft?

  • Actually there is an enter end seed that makes this task super easy to get to the end portal

  • Are you Sciencephile the AI? I'm not suggesting this just because of the TTS, but also because you made a physics reference and Sciencephile the AI made a minecraft reference, and because your editing style seems similar.

  • But if it takes 27 hours to kill the dragon and they get a new world every day, if a monkey got that far the world would be replaced before it could kill the dragon.

  • Is it actually possible?? A monkey would take 27 hours to kill the ender dragon but he resets in just 24 hours

  • You sir are a man of focus, commitment and sheer fuckin' will

  • Do more skyblock documentaries those are the best videos on your channel

  • A monkey can't beat Minecraft. When they fall off the end pillars, even if all of them are short enough so you don't die, you will take lots of damage, and after a few falls, you will die, and you won't be at max hunger. That would be impossible.

  • You know, a LOT of people own Minecraft. I always wonder if one day, whether 10-20, or 30 years from now, some kid or adult just, turns on the game. They don't really care much about what they're doing so they immediately dig straight down like its Classic 0.30 in 2010, after a couple minutes of doing dumb shit. And then suddenly, they fall into a room, and then they're flung straight into another dimension, staring into an abyss, the final stage of their journey. That'd be trippy as fuck, very confusing, and completely hilarious.

  • several things, one the mouse and keyboard will eventually break so they will have to get multiple keyboards and mice, second of all, the fact of parallel universes possibly existing means this has LITERALLY happened, with infinite universes, infinite possibilities of keyboards, mice, what types of monkey's there CAN be enough universes for this to happen just wow

  • no way, the MONKE will close minecraft and launch Bloons TD6 instead

  • what are the chances of them beating the wr for rsg any%? lol

  • what if the monkey starts living in the trees as monkeys do and eventually find out how to craft and make wood and they start learning until they learn about mining, caves, ore and a nether portal because they might run into a ruined one and try to rebuild it exactly the same and by chance sometimes there are flint and steel you will find in chests and by chance a monkey could accidentally light a nether portal on fire, and blah blah blah blah blah blah until they get eyes of ender and try to right click and follow the eye until it will go down wich means the stronghold is under it and BY A SMALL CHANCE they might fall into the end portal because you said it was a 12 eye of ender seed and because they will have encountered a mob before they will have the knowledge to build and fight and they will die a couple of times but soon learn how to not get killed by the end crystals when destroying them and how the dragon regens from the crystals because of the beams that are connected to the dragon and end crystals and one of the monkeys might eventually beat the game BUT THATS JUST A THEORY, AN IDIOT THEORY BECAUSE THIS PROBABLY WILL BE AN INVALID THEORY.

  • Give that monkey a banana for it's hard work :)
