  • Very cute to see an official trailer for Paper Mario in 2021.

    • @Nico Soria Yeah for a used copy just the cartridge itself that'll be like $10-$30 I have the OG box and manual plus the game and that goes for over $100 so yes technically this game is worth more than $50

    • @Nico Soria I would pay 1k for paper mario

    • @K-Nine At least I'm not some loser who has to be a grammar teacher at low pay! I bet being a clown is better than being a pest Grammar teacher. Learn the ID-tv algorithm old man! Btw, you literally used the comma wrong.

    • @Gonzales Man Learn how to use commas, clown!

    • @K-Nine Virtual Console is a service. NSO is a service too, different things! Also, I'm sure it's a bigger pet peeve to be corrected, so just don't correct people like that!

  • SO EXCITED!!

  • For me, one of the best games in existence, along with it's sequel The thousand year door. Masterpieces! 🙌

    • @GAZDA Not exactly. Although I do think it is a step in the right direction, it still doesn't have that MAGIC the first 3 had imo.

    • @B K We aren't counting that Switch PM title eh? 😂

    • Paper Mario 64 is my favorite

    • Agreed, this trailer does not give it justice! Game is insanely good!

    • @EmoGamer Wow I forgot about the Wii U one, color splash. It was ok but yer deffo the worse paper mario I think.

  • This is honestly still one of the most incredible games ever, only beaten by The Thousand Year Door. The amount of care and thought put into each element of this game is unrivalled, and there’s just something that increasingly good graphics can’t replace when it comes to extremely well designed gameplay.

  • A real RPG Mario game. This is on of my favourites and can’t wait to play it again. Please Nintendo make the next paper Mario game return to its glory. I don’t care about gimmicks just give us a true RPG Mario game.

    • @hunter keps Yeah, but right after the prologue you can block and all other stuff

    • @Andree1x That might explain why I stopped playing. I found the fact I couldn't block just a little annoying, making most fights just a back and forth. But if it gets better later on then that's something to look forward to. Idk, I'll play through PM and boot up TTYD again, it's been a long time since I played that one.

    • @hunter keps Yeah, the game looks better obviously but that’s about it The combat was more annoying that fun, I wish they use another gameplay than the same turn based thing but with some kind of twist, the objectives are in both games point A to point B, there is nothing really unique, come one, this game has almost no characters other than Mario and Olivia, even Goombario has more personality than any of your partners on OK And I can’t be nostalgia blind cause literally my first Nintendo console is the Switch, don’t get me wrong, I like Origami King and I had fun with it, I just like 64 and TTYD way more, the hype for those games is basically, actual characters, the story, the gameplay, they worked really well, 64 was good and TTYD just did it even better, the start of 64 is kinda slow tho, you don’t have action commands on the prologue The Origami King ost has bangers tho

    • @Andree1x But it's sad because it isn't. Origami king looks way better, the partner has 100x more personality than any from the other games, the combat (While tedious) is unique and fun in a puzzle sort of way, the world feels so much more vibrant and lived in, the characters are way more charming and funny, and the objectives are quite unique and interesting. I'll continue playing the N64 game because I really do want to see what all the hype is about. But when you people say "Paper Mario & TTYD are way better than Origami King", it's hard not to take you guys as being nostalgia blind, especially since I have yet to see one element from PM that compares to PM: OK

    • @Andree1x Facts.

  • Finally, now I can hit that one block for 416 years on the go!

    • @Om Nom and Nuggethe is talking about the video "Hitting this Block for 416 Years Crashes Paper Mario"

    • @Chew how so. When? Last i saw it was inconclusive on both sides.

    • Love the stryder reference you're going for

    • I've seen you 5 times today

    • @collieman the allegations have been proven false, and the fact people like you still believe it are why he isn't back yet

  • When it was launched on N64 I heard of this game but I wasn't interested at all, 10 years ago I decided to play it, Seriously what a surprise I got back then, easily one of the best games I have ever played, I don't know why I didn't give him the oportunity when it was launched the first time ❤️

  • Y’all remember when you could’ve just bought this on the eshop? Good times 🙃

  • While it is nice to see such a classic come to the service, I think I speak for more than just myself when I say that I'd prefer more than just one game a month. Come on, is two a month really that much to ask for?

    • @Skeleton ikr. Everyone thinks that all people have computers 🤦‍♂️

    • @Balboa Baggins im sure not everyone has a computer that can do that

    • Just emulate man. Jeez.

    • Deal with what they give you or don't at all. It's that simple 🤷‍♂️

    • ikr

  • I’m so glad they brought a game like this to the Nintendo switch, the game is too good to be forgotten

  • There’s no dislikes in this video, so this should be good!

    • "Return ID-tv Dislike" Chrome Extension

    • @Project_Boredom because of the corona protests worldwide

    • @Tomani Wait! HOLD UP

    • Or at least not that you can see

    • Hmmm... I wonder why. .

  • This is the very first video game I ever played. It's still very special to me after all this time~

  • 1: Have it so that we can actually buy and own this game instead of being forced into an online subscription 2: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario should also be available to buy and own 3: If you ever feel the need to make new Paper Mario games, have it be more like Paper Mario 64 and Thousand Year Door, and LESS like Sticker Star, Color Splash and Origami King

  • This game is amazing and thanks to the art style I think it still holds up really well

  • It's a cute and a well done video, I'm happy to see people rejoicing to play it again. I wish I could join all of you and enjoy this masterpiece myself. But if Nintendo will be releasing one game a month for N64, it's a joke to me and probably won't convince me to sign in for their luck luster service any time soon.

    • @Rafael Lopes wrong. Banjo kazooie next month!

    • it's more likely a game every 2 months, and the way it goes, maybe they'll switch between n64 and megadrive every month or two...

  • I love how the trailer highlights literally everything the modern Paper Mario games don't have.

    • The conclusion? *Look yourselves before blaming nintendo and intelligent system, bad community.*

    • @c l o t h i n g h a n g e r You mean it's a great trailer to show what made the first three games great, and why the following three games are terrible!

    • @Dragular probably

    • @The Rainbow Mario Man Maybe I was just underwhelmed. By Origami King's story.

    • @Dragular dude I get where your coming from trust me ttyd is like my 2nd favorite game but origami king did have a good story

  • Ah yes… Back when Paper Mario had actual RPG element…

    • And quality stories, characters, and world building. As well as no making fun of legitimate fan criticism.

  • I would love to play these games without paying an absurd price every single year

    • @DanielWhy are you bringing "evil" into this conversation. Just because it's against the law, doesnt always mean it's right. It doesn't make it "evil". You're making it sound like the ones that pirate video games from a horrible companies are such horrible people "ugh so such evil human beings. They are so mean to nice people that are honest with a company that treats us horribly. Wah wah" Theft is wrong. Yeah. Grass is green and babies come from women's genitals. Tell me something I don't know. I already told that you're idiots for supporting a bad company, not because you don't wanna steal. What in the name of the goddess, Hylia do you not understand?

    • Yall really be calling people who think theft is wrong idiots. First you tolerate evil, then you embrace evil, then you call people evil for claiming that evil is evil.

    • @Balboa Baggins it's great to see someone else that's not an idiot.

    • Just emulate man. Jeez.

    • @Mr Ebic Productions your math is terrible.

  • Color me excited. Remains in my top 3 games of all time. Glad to explore a semi open world again and have party members for a change

  • I always play this around the holidays, it's my favorite of all time.

  • Finally a good Paper Mario game that can more easily be accessed

  • I’m still gonna wait until next year when the game catalog is more full. However, I am excited for everyone that loves this game to be able to play it on their switch!

  • I've played this in my childhood, it was extremely fun!

  • Ahh, finaly a good Paper Mario. A RPG one. Too bad Nintendo dont make more of those these days. Hope the emulation works correctly this time.

  • I believe this was the first game I ever bothered to beat more than once. Absolutely loved it.

    • This but for TTYD for me

    • I just thought to myself and realized, same here! Idk if I ever beat a game more than once before PM.

    • Try super Mario rpg.

    • @lunk indeed.

    • And prob still play to this day

  • And the nostalgia just hit me like a ton of bricks… a ton of paper bricks. :) I cannot wait to play this again.

  • This is the N64 game I wanted to play the most! Wish they added some more games with Paper Mario to the service but I am very happy

  • Thank you for this fantastic early Christmas gift, Nintendo. I'm so happy I got the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Can't wait to see what still to come. :)

  • I’m so happy I could cry right now. Thank you Nintendo this is pure nostalgia! ❤️

    • And an over priced barely functioning "service"

  • I already own this game but it’s great to see Nintendo showing it some love!

  • Finally, a good Paper Mario in Switch!

  • This makes me want to get the expansion pack

  • IM SO EXCITED! The only reason I even bought the expansion truly!! The new paper Mario was such a huge let down from a RPG perspective... I can’t wait to play the OG and feel the nostalgia!!

  • If this game was sold separately I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Paper Mario was the first video I owned as a kid and I still love this game.

    • @Mateus Bastos Matias you’re still being ripped off

    • To Meateus and Dan: N64 VC is bad on Wii U, unfortunately. Bad colours, and a lot of input lag. I'm not sure if it's as terrible as NES, as I haven't tried it, but it's definitely not good enough to play such a great game.

    • @RojoMF it would be better if they combined and bundled paper Mario games for a future release with said physical bonuses.

    • @Mr. Variant They are talking about like Virtual Console, not physical releases.

    • You can buy it for $20 on Wii U

  • Yes! Paper Mario 64 coming to the switch! Thank you Nintendo! 😁

  • OF COURSE IT HAS TO BE EXPANSION THIS WAS MY CHILDHOOD

  • Cool, glad to see y'all are improving the expansion pack

  • I have played this game millions of times on the wii and seeing it in HD makes me smile

  • Love to see Nintendo talk about this game again. Unfortunately the online service is still too expensive to convince me.

    • @Bea can I have my way with you?

    • Is it over

    • @Megamon indeed.

    • @M64bros yeah thats true.

    • @Ghoster I see you edited your comment to fix the phrasing, and didn’t even add a notation for it. Now explain to me how the people who complained about the problems in the emulation were playing online with people? Last I checked Ocarina of Time has no multiplayer, and that’s what they are all pointing fingers at

  • Hope this game actually gets a proper port to the Switch

  • So much better than the recent paper Mario releases. Xp and a more straightforward battle system were two reasons why I loved paper on the 64 and gcn

  • Wow this is cool :), thanks Nintendo for Bringing this game back it was a great game :)

  • For people did not played the game before; It is an awesome game, I played it on Wii U and I loved it

  • It’s crazy to see an actual original trailer of Nintendo acknowledging this game ever that it almost feels like dream.

    • Let me guess you’ve never had a Wii or Wii U and have been a Nintendo fan since the Nintendo switch?

    • @pokemonduck Literally with every entry after Super Paper Mario until it was brought to the Wii U’s eShop

    • @CatCloud Super Mario RPG was released both on the Wii and the Wii U virtual consoles, as well as bundled into the SNES Classic. So.. I'm not really sure what you're talking about.

    • I imagine if they make a new paper Mario it will be closer to this one. I don’t think they will ever do something like thousand year door again but as long as the gameplay is fun I can handle a lesser story

    • @Kevin Yup, Origami King plays exactly like Sticker Star and Color Splash. Probably worse since these two games at the very least had signature moves like Multibounce, Fire Hammer, etc.

  • Finally, the new generation can experience a real paper mario game.

    • Okay, this whole “real PM games” argument is one I find very stupid. The games have been experimental from the start. 64 was more of a standard RPG with platforming elements sprinkled in, then TTYD took the core of 64 and added additional gimmicks to its gameplay. Super took almost everything in the previous 2 games and threw it out of the window in favor of a 2D platformer with light RPG elements. Sticker Star was a similar case, taking everything from the previous games and throwing it out in favor of a 3D action-adventure with light RPG elements, and Color Splash took the core of Sticker Star and added additional gimmicks to the gameplay. Origami King is a 3D action-adventure like Sticker Star and Color Splash, but with a completely different structure and a completely different battle system. This franchise has been experimental from the start, which is why I don’t consider there to be any “real PM games”.

    • @BeatBattles #7404 I played SS, and actually enjoyed it more than TOK. It had better animation, more attack variety, and they at least had the decency to let the characters from past games exist. I hard disagree that TOK is an improvement over SS in any way other than an open world to explore instead of Super Mario 3 style map system. E.T. didn't cause the crash of the gaming industry. Atari was already on hard times well before the game released. It's clear some executive forced the poor programmer to crank out a licensed game to try and make up for their losses, this backfired because the game didn't have near enough development time. Only a handful of Atari games from the time were really worth playing at all. I make the comparison because I've actually played both of them. I literally got more enjoyment out of playing E.T. I didn't play Color Splash because it was just doubling down on SS, and by everything I've seen looks far worse than SS. TOK decided to double down on most things yet again, but added an open world to explore. The complaint about TTYD backtracking is kind of dumb since it has about the same amount as PM64. The only differences are one of the things they previously did in a side quest, and that they didn't have spin dash. And yes, there are bad AAA games out there. Fallout 76 is a mess, but it's still more fun than TOK. A lot of the AAA industry is a mess, especially EA and Activision. However there have been some really neat games released this year, some of which I still need to get.

    • @Cerebrum By far the worst thing with TOK is it's battle system, other than that it's a big improvement over Color Splash which was itself an infinite improvement over Sticker Star. The worst thing i've heard about TTYD was backtracking in chapter 4, but when it comes to PM64 i mean it's pretty hard to find something to hate. E.T is just infamous for crashing the video game industry but there are a lot worse games from that time than ET and believe it or not, the some AAA publishers still ship games out that are not really much better just look at the pile of trash of this year.

    • @Striker E.T. was the result of trying to make a video game in 5 weeks, not in not trying at all. Games of the era normally took 6 to 8 months to make. This guy got a little over one. Paper Mario doesn't have to be an RPG series for me either*, but it does have to have something I enjoy. Something TOK is bereft of. There is more charm and world building in a single house in the original Paper Mario compared the entirety of Tanabe's monstrosities. Oh well, at least I have Bug Fables, and the developers there said they are interested in a sequel. *Super Paper Mario is my second favorite. It gave me half of what I enjoyed out of the series. The great story and world building. The platforming was really watered down compared to something like traditional Mario, which is one big reason why so many didn't like it.

    • @Cerebrum I'm talking about how fun the game is not comparing it to what it used to be. To me paper mario doesn't have to be an rpg series. It has to be fun. I highly doubt they tried to make et fun. Sure the origami king isn't the most fun game ever but to say the team didn't try is cleanly untrue! Not trying was ET!

  • I am playing the origami king right now, I remember loving this original game. Can’t wait to play it again.

  • So far, Paper Mario is playing just as I'd expect from both the Wii and Wii U virtual console.

  • WOW I sure do love the part in the game where my game crashes while fighting general shy guy for no reason and I get sent back to the end of chapter 3 wow my favorite part of the game

  • The first game I ever beat. Words cannot emphasize how much this game means to me. I know the ins and outs of this game by heart. I've beaten it so many times. It was just such an instrumental part of my childhood

    • First game I beat too. Had some help from my Dad and sister at points but beating Bowser on my own was a huge achievement for me lol. And the chapter 5 boss too, what a nightmare

    • Still have my original copy. It's my favorite game of all time! This game is something special.

    • It's nice to see people with the same amount of love and feeling for this game that I have

    • I never got to finish it, got stuck at the last bowser battle. Can’t wait to play it again in my switch and actually finish it!

    • I love this game with all my heart, I used to play it with my dad all the time

  • Nintendo STILL doesnt understand why Paper Mario was so beloved. nobody cared that it was paper, it was the charming and compelling story, the humour, the mechanics. the paper puns are NOT the point.

    • Thinner Mario, Bigger Adventure!

    • *Cool trailer with some puns* ACKTULLY THIS ISNT HOW IT SUPPSOED TO BE YOU SEE! IN THE JAPAN VERSION

    • We got that in origami king Shut up boomer

    • @Cerebrum To add to that, there's only one exploration mechanic that focuses on the paper aspect in the GCN sequel. But the focus on the story is just as prominent as in this one there.

    • @CrypticMantisTX55 thank you

  • can't wait to play through this!

  • Honestly this was the main reason I got the expansion pass. I grew up on this and TYD and I’m excited to have it on my switch. Every couple of years I plug in my Wii to play both games but it’s kind of a hassle, so I’m stoked to have one of them on my main console.

  • This game totally deserves a spot on NSO. Super fun!!

  • This will always be my favorite Paper Mario game. It’s such a charming classic.

  • Aww the awesome content creators here are getting me even more excited!

  • I've always wanted to play this as a kid...now I can.

  • Great to see this classic getting some love again. Best one in the series.

  • Back when Nintendo posted paper Mario 20th anniversary on their community page, now the original paper Mario game is coming to Nintendo switch, what a great notice! 👍

  • I can’t even begin to explain how much this game means to me. This game helped me through a really difficult part of my childhood. I didn’t know how things would turn out, but I had this game to help me through it.

    • Jesus loves you, praying for you

    • That's why I love Paper Mario 64 so much, the 1st game just feels so old yet so magical. I also love TTYD the same way, but PM64 just hits the nostalgia real good.

    • I respect your opinion

    • Yes I agree! This game is very special!!🥺🥺🥺

    • @UCo6uv3mHx1UVKnrXqKUlZcw ....damn, lol.

  • About time I been waiting for this game, one of the best

  • YES! I can’t wait to perform action commands with perfect timing

  • As much as I'm happy to see this coming, will this be the ONLY game to release on December 10th? If so, that kinda sucks considering the pace Nintendo's releasing these. I'd settle more for 2 or 3 games per release.

  • When this game came out on the N64 I didn’t really know what to expect because I’m not good at rpg games. When I got it home I was like oh no at first due to figuring out it was a rpg game. I soon fell in love with the story and the humor. I never got to beat it but had a blast playing it. Can’t wait to play it again. Although I wish Nintendo would start offering more of a Netflix style of gaming service. They have the biggest catalog of games. This drip feed of games is not good now for the price we pay as consumers. Still can’t wait till the 10th to play Paper Mario.

  • One of the better Paper Mario games. Loved this, TTYD and Super.

    • @JRRR92 Color Splash is basically simillar to Sticker, so your opinion is kinda weird

    • @Chris lol you're pressed that someone doesn't have the same opinion as you get a life

    • @Chris Damn i'm still getting replies for this😶

    • @Super Mario Manuel [Pac Approved] lol pac man is overrated

    • @mjb 20077 The opinion that it's bad is what's trash.

  • This will be my first time ever experiencing it. Glad they brought this game!

  • I have fond memories of playing this game when I was still in school and taking days off sick to try and finish it :) Spoilers, I finished it

  • Never played it yet (missed out on it back in the day), glad it's on the Switch now!

  • Playing now, it is still as good as I remembers. :D

  • Man, *_I love this game,_* I wish there was a Switch Virtual Console I could buy this on. I really don't want to pay for their overpriced dripfeed game subscription plus mediocre online service to get it. Dang that's sad.

    • Yeah, I get that there's many games on offer, but let's be real most people are only gonna stick with a few. Like I doubt many Paper Mario players are gonna spend a lot of time on, say, Winback.

    • Do you have a Wii U stored somewhere? Get Paper Mario on there for £8.99 or $9.99, depending on where you're from. Much cheaper than buying the expansion pack.

    • This us better because it's actually consumer friendly and not forcing you to pay over and over again for the same game all the damn time

  • Still hoping for Thousand Year Door on Switch. Shouldn't be that hard to make and people WILL most definitely buy it.

  • I am now 100% getting this for my 64 now!!!

  • Best Paper Mario ever!! Will be nice to play it on the go

  • Love how this was edited. Especially the part where the music stopped when Mario crashed. Then continued after dusting himself off. It's small, but well done. :D

  • It’s a fantastic game, but I believe that the real nostalgia I’m feeling for this is the timing of its release. For me, it came out a year after my parents got divorced, I was thirteen. Then this game came out, I can still recall great memories of playing it with my late sister.. Then 9/11 happened…and here I am, here we are. That’s how fast it happened for me, at least.

    • Gosh darnit old man(?)👴 I'll never be able to feel the same level of nostalgia, but I too grew up on this one. Coincidentally, my mom went into labor with me during the attacks. Wish you the best stranger! :)

  • I have mixed feelings about this. I'm glad that we're getting Paper Mario, but does this mean that Nintendo is going to release one game at a time?

  • aw man, i remember this game i cant wait to play it

  • Let's hope nothing may go wrong. Good luck, Nintendo! I always believe in you!

  • As a late-adopter of the N64 (Xmas 2000), my nostalgia is particularly strong for this game.

    • @Adam S. It came out in 2000 for Japan and 2001 everywhere else.

    • Christmas 2000 huh? Was your N64 the Pikachu themed console, or was it one of the Funtastic consoles? :)

    • Damn I got it for Christmas 2010 I think

    • Exact same situation for me haha

  • Yes, here it is. Literally the entire reason I purchased the expansion. (Joking of course but yeah this is the big boy. Gonna 100% this game if it kills me.)

  • This is my favorite N64 game. All I have to say is you better not screw this up with all the things that have been going the expansion lately!

  • Can't wait to have 4 more fully completed save files 😀

  • Can’t wait to play the paper Mario that made me love RPGs

  • One game added after two months. This service is already showing it's value.

    • @Ben Sell A service that's $20 a year, and in every way inferior to Steam's $0 a year.

    • Indeed! We're FINALLY getting a good Paper Mario game on Switch! Worth every penny!

    • @Josh Bryan Banjo-Kazooie will arrive...eventually. Smash 64, on the other hand, is a game that should come to the service, but has yet to be properly announced.

    • @Zac _ see you in 2024

    • @Kieroni Reikets WII U VIRTUAL CONSOLE

  • Time like this makes me wish the switch had a virtual console.

  • Put the trailer at 0.5x speed for an accurate representation of how the game will run

  • OMG!!!! I never get tired of playing this game! It was my favorite childhood game and I cannot tell you how many times I replayed this! It’s hours of fun✨

  • Love paper Mario he's my favorite Mario of them all and screw origami Mario that's just rubbish. But the original paper Mario will always have a place in my heart.

  • As someone who never got to fully experience this game, i'm more than excited for this chance to play it again. I am also confused by the Teen rating at the beginning of the video, unless it means for N64 Online as a whole.

  • I love this game and PM2 soso much :) In my opinion one of the best Nintendo games. and I love minute 0:39 xD

  • Loved playing this on my N64 growing up, can’t wait to play…this was the first Paper Mario and the best.

  • I can't wait. Just picked up the expansion pass the other day and I love it. I hope goldeneye comes to it

  • Wow, no dislikes! Nintendo fans must really love this service! Good work Nintendo

    • @NetConsole now if only smb had 13k alt accounts...

    • @kulitmed Is this some meme or something? Because everyone not joking can see that I am right.

    • @NetConsole lies. there are ONLY 5 dislikes

    • @geoffabby thomas I can see that it has *DISLIKE* amount of dislikes

    • Or they just love Paper Mario 64 :D Pretty based

  • After beating Oragami King this year I would love nothing more then to get into the game that started this amazing series! Thanks Nintendo I’m still waiting for Banjo Kazooie on N64 and possibly anupdate to the application cause some bugs need fixing! Hopefully before Christmas we get more than Paper Mario

  • Looking forward to playing through this one again. My favourite in the series

  • I loved this game so much

  • My absolute favorite game!!!!

  • I love the classic Paper Mario games and even though I've already played this before and probably won't play it on Switch, I am happy to see this game reach a modern audience!

    • @Jorge m. Play it on a emulator

    • @Jorge m. agreed. Definitely wish they would remaster this one and TTYD.

    • @Nick K I wanna try to play this game on switch but man this sucks.

    • @Jorge m. It would have been better if these were individual games off the eShop. I don’t want to rent for $50 a year, but buy permanently for $10! I got this game on Wii U and it’s pretty cool on Wii U, save states make the very customizable and comfortable, the manual is really fun to view, and button mapping is a great feature too!

    • Man I really wish that the expansion pack wouldn’t cost.

  • Judging by all the paper puns in the trailer, I'm guessing that Nintendo isn't planning on giving us a new 'traditional' Paper Mario yet.

  • FINALLY AN ACTUALLY GOOD VIRTUAL CONSOLE GAME!!!

  • The graphics still look amazing!
