  • Hey Alex, I just discovered you and your videos. I think you do a great job, I also enjoy the genre you like. I read Pet Sematary when it came out and loved it also. I didn't care for the movie as much as you though. I felt they did a terrible job of adapting the book. Anyway, thanks for the work you do to bring new books to our attention, you have sold several books to me. Keep up the great work and I'm so glad I found your channel.

    • Hi Thomas! Thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it! Glad to hear I could highlight some books you might not have heard of :)

  • It was great to hear your thoughts! I recently picked up my own copy of Pet Sematary, and can't wait to give it a go! I thoroughly enjoyed the movie the first time I saw it, but the second time around I noticed the flaws you mentioned more clearly. Almost none of the character's actions make sense without knowing about the Wendigo and its control over the town. Zelda was definitely one of the most memorable/creepy parts for me too!

    • Thank you! I hope you enjoy the book :) I think having just read the book it was hard to not compare the movie to it so closely...but it's still an enjoyable movie and it has a lot of plus points too. Yes, Zelda was/is so scary!!!

  • LOVE this video! I’m glad you ended up liking the documentary. It’s so cool to see all of that detail so long after the fact! Your summary of the book is awesome too ... I forgot about a lot that happens. That gravedigging scene is wild and so good!

    • Thank you so much :) Yes, there is quite a lot going on in the book! I agree about the gravedigging scene...it was so tense!

  • I absolutely loved the book and the movie! I remember when I watched it, my nephew was the same age as Gage so when he started saying "no fair" at the end I started crying. I didn't even know there was a documentary I need to look around for it

    • It is heartbreaking. Both the book and the movie made me cry! Yes, the doc is well worth checking out. I watched it on Shudder.

  • Great review Alex! Hearing you talk about it makes me want to reread it :)

    • Thank you! Awesome, I think this is one I'd re-read sometime in the future too :)

  • I'm glad you liked it! :D I like how I knew the song by The Ramones way before I read the book or saw the movie but after reading it, it totally changed the way I saw the song haha

    • Not a bad effort haha :D

    • Haha! Apparently Stephen King was a big Ramones fan so asked them to write a song for the movie and they wrote it in less than an hour :)

  • Pet Semetary is a favourite of mine. Very dark and moody. Movie version Zelda completely disturbed me as a kid. I love it! Great video Starry Eyes is a fantastic film. So there is indeed hope for the remake.

    • Thank you! It's one I've been meaning to read for some time and it was even better than I hoped it would be. Yes, movie Zelda is nightmare material for sure! So glad to hear you liked Starry Eyes :)

  • I loved this book! It was sad, but there was that element that King brings that other authors can't seem to find. Great review Alex! I have a problem with remakes, but I'll give this one a look!

    • Thanks, Todd! Such a great book! Glad to hear you loved it too. Yes, this is one remake I'm looking forward to :)

  • Great job on this video! I really need to watch the documentary!

    • Thank you! The doc was really good, I think you'll enjoy it :)
