  • Axelsen could be one of the most consistent player of this era.Such a class.Devastating for Momota.

  • I'm a huge Momota fan... So sad (and surprised) by the score ! At this level and in a final match, it's just incredible. Axelsen is untouchable at the moment. So impressive !

    • @Kangge Panyang what

    • I feel like the Malaysians were jealous and hoped for the accident. How ironic it happened after the win in Malaysia 2020. I feel for Kento but still he overcame adversity and fought back to play today, so proud of him

    • After the accident something happened to him 😕

    • what, what's wrong with kento???? oh, man, he was good in 2018---2020,, what's wrong????

  • I believe that currently, the gap between axelsen and the number two player in the world is astronomical. as a huge momota fan, i wanted him to win this match, but i knew it just wasnt possible and momota knew that too. i believe that he just wanted to play a good tight game and give it his all, but he still failed. usually i would hope that failure like this would push a player to train even harder and come back stronger, but for a player battling injury like momota, im afraid it'll crush his confidence.

    • Proberly because Momota is no longer #2 when the ranking will be updated

  • I had the impression that when Viktor lost sets in the prior rounds it was because he grew impatient and made too many mistakes. Nothing of that sort with Momota today. He still fears that Momota could suddenly be in the match, so no concentration lapses at all.

    • you would become impatient too if you cant score against your opponent

  • axelsen becoming one of the greatest in his sport. GOAT of european players already Momota playing at 10% of his level, I hope he manages to come back to his prime

  • Gezus, look at how many of Axelsen's shots that was right on the line. That is just insane.

  • Momota is definitely not what he was before the car crash, and that was very obvious in this match.

  • Before the match starts you know Momota has no chance and Axelson made it crystal clear in the first few rallies. He lifts almost every single shots and kept momota at the back. He knows momota's attack is way too weak. He also uses far net shot to prevent momota from doing net tricks. And once momota is tired of "attacking" and starts to flat clears, axelson just has to do a quick smash, not even a big one, to disrupt momota s balance. If momota made it back, Axelson just rinse and repeat.

    • @MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO By 10 years is a lot. Also smaller body is easier to maintain compared to bigger body.

    • @asdfasdfasdf even if shorter people live longer its is marginally insignificant. it has nothing to do with sports performance nor longevity.

    • @Random Dude Nah go study science, short people live longer.

    • @asdfasdfasdf "I, AS A TALL PERSON HERE, DECLARE THIS INVALID! PLEASE!"

    • @Jim Yang For viktor he will start to fall at age 30. Taller player have short lifespan compared to shorter player, part of science.

  • Momota doesn't have an attack that can score. Momota game is all about accurate, precise rally, and superb defensive play, but sadly, they are all gone. He can't play against heavy hitters like VA or LJZ anymore. Also I think players seem to have discover Momota's weakness on the backhand side.

    • The backhand side, yes, that's the main thing players are exploiting right now.

  • Le score est si triste pour Momota , je ne sais pas ce qu’il lui arrive en ce moment , mais j’espère vraiment qu’il remontera là niveau d’ici là 💪🏽🙏🏽❤️

  • Momota has to fight at the net, bc when he lifts, Axelsen just responds w/a smash that he can't defend. If your defense isn't absolute, then relying on the opponent making a mistake is a losing strategy. Momota no longer has the solid defense and shot quality that he had in 2019, while Axelsen has improved his stamina, smash, defense, and agility. So it's either fight at the net & change up your shot pattern or become more of an attacking player to break Axelsen's defense (former is better imo, since Axelsen's defense is just too good at the moment). It was night and day. I remember watching Axelsen back in 2017 and saw his smash and I knew one day it would be his weapon to dominate MS. Not to mention Axelsen overcame the mountain that was Momota (since he lost to Momota countless times in the past), he can now reign at the top w/o equal. One thing I do like is you notice when Axelsen won, he went on his knees for only a brief period of time and came back to greet Momota almost instantly; this tells me Axelsen still has a great deal of respect for Momota.

    • @Her Reach well 2017-2020 you had lin dan and chen long. axelson was just a straight up punching bag for pre covid momota. now the legendary players like CL and LD retired and momota out of the question the only one left dominant is Axelson. he didnt turn into a beast, its just better players either retired or been eliminated by accidents or injuries.

    • It's a step forward though, he's able to make finals, dominate games, and while not winning yet, he can improve his weaknesses now.

    • True, Axelsen was utterly underrated throughout 2017-2020 period and even after he won the 2020 All England people still have their eye on Momota, Chen Long, Ginting, Shi Yuqi etc, then suddenly out of nowhere he turns into a BEAST

    • How big essay

  • Viktor is unstoppable right now, truely scary to most of his opponents.

  • VA's smashes are so accurate and sharp!

  • Viktor is just unstoppable at the moment, the quality cross court shots will give Momota nightmares tonight. Really feel for Momota..

  • The 1st fourth point rally is what Momoto is, He got all the talents He needs just need some more focus to bring back how He was

  • Well, we can only consider that Lee Zii Jia may possibly raise his stability and have a chance to play against Axelson in 2024

  • In malaysia open 2018, momota did amazing performance as he was battling with LCW even though he lost. But, in malaysia open 2022, his performance was totally disaster cuz he only got 4 and 7 against axelsen!! Anyway, 2 things i am impressed about malaysia open 2022 - The spotlight. the name of winner and the victory ceremony is really high class like all england. Really luxurious and expensive!!! - Finally i see lee chong wei again even though he didn't take any photo together with momota and axelsen

  • This day has come. Momota has been playing rally styles - returning every single shots and then counter attack. I have said it before one day Momota will face huge trouble as he gets older with playing long rallies without trying to become an attacking player. Fragile confidence, Covid recovery and that accident + he’s still weak at his physicality. Sad to see Momota couldn’t see its a no-brainer he needs to step up his physicality. Look at LzJ when he first started in senior stage, was so skinny. And look at how much LzJ trained his muscles alongside skills. It’s easy to skip the physical training, and rely only on skills. Most of great achievements by Lin Dan was greatly from when LD was dominating with his powerful smashes and intimidating court reading and aggression.

    • No comparison with LD. He is renown for his game reading ability apart from his legendary smash, light footwork and speed. Most of the rallies he was in control and he exactly knew the return most of the time. That skill only have seen in LD not even in lCW though he match him in skill wise. He played till his late 30s and runners up in 2017. I don't think no one will ever reach into that level again... A true legend. Those who has seen him play Axelson in Japan Open could remember at that time due to age he could n't use his lethal smash he purely won it by playing a well composed strategic game coming behind 3-11 in 3rd set. Truly a freak of nature.. Apart from his legendary skills he was a true hard worker constantly worked on improving his skills. True inspiration.

    • @asdfasdfasdf by beating them both before makes him a legend already? Lol.. No further comment from that perspective.

    • @Chye Heng Huh? Momota beat LCW and LD before, he's at legend level lol.

    • Momota need a better coach.

    • @MammonSpeed he was way better at court coverage indeed, and yes his that favorite smash. But back then, there were less great attacking player like LZJ etc also. And Park Joo Bong also acknowledged this problem. And Momota himself acknowledged everyone attacked him. Momota varieties of attacks have always been so weak. He always wears out opponents attacks - but to be truthful, how many attacks can he take really while aging. Look at more he lost twice Thomas Cup final consecutively - due to his defense drop from stamina issue keeping it up.. He rarely got point due to proactive attack. It was mostly, if not all from counter attack. Just my opinion though. I think he's done, if this is his plan to revive his career by still not being an attacking player before 30s.

  • Axelsen is absolutely dominant.

  • There's an evident disadvantage due to the height and the effect it has overtime in terms of reach and energy spent.

  • After Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei era, there seems to be no one to have that kind of rivalry and game which keeps you wanting to see more and more. Momota had that spark but now lost somewhere after the last olympic. Axelson is very good but not untouchable like Momota was once.

    • Only lee zi jia vs Viktor is the best rivalry now as their match is always epic and close 3set

    • Lol axelsen is untouchable now, has been from last year. No one can really beat him. Prime Lin Dan & Chong Wei, still lost to unranked players

    • @danton Kull cause there’s not that much competition today. Watching a final match like this is not fun at all. Also earlier round matches were close ones.

    • Axelsen is untouchable and has been for a long time now

  • Looks Momota need to pay more attention on improving his physicality too. Not sure how much he can improve, since each individual is different. Victor improved his physicality, that made an impact on his approach to the game too.

  • So sad to see Momota struggling. He has been endured too much since 2020.

    • @GM No😭 he will back

    • @Kalesh K sekhar Maybe, but he will never be as good as he was. They wrecked him.

    • Yes but he will back😭😎💛

    • @GM No of your claims constitute as evidence.

  • No chance at all for Momota. Brutal 😬

  • 36:33 another good rally + good anticipation by the winner of this rally.

  • The score. I have no words.

  • Axelsen is simply on another level. Looks like a Pro played versus a amateur player. Congrats to Viktor. Noone can beat you at the moment.

    • Lakshya Sen had beaten him.

    • @Nithin Kumar Ginting hasn’t beaten Viktor in over 2,5 years though

    • Ginting can bring him down, he should overcome his confidence in the game

  • Momota can't get back to where he once was. What a pity! Congrats Viktor Axelsen!

  • Because of Axelsen height and agility he could create v good elevations, also accurate smashes and follow up (this time) He hardly lifted the shuttle. While, Mamota played just average game today and made many mistakes of overhead clear just like previous players and ended up either out or smashing back by Axelsen! In short : In current form of Axelsen, You should be playing more of net shots with very less lifting to get a decent score 😃

  • VA looks like shoots from the sky-high, unbeatable

  • VK you are the best of the Best .. all the best. SO Much CONFIDENCE... WELL PLAYED BOTH OF YOU

  • that made an impact on his approach to the game too.

  • sampai dengan saat ini belum ada yang bisa mengalahkan victor Axelsen, kecuali dirinya sendiri.

  • I hope Axelsen remains safe for WC and not choke like the last time.

    • @Her Reach I think it was more to do with the fact that is was the last part of the year, and Viktor was just tired

    • @Her Reach No, I'm sure Axelsen will give his best in all tournaments that he played. LKY was unbelievable fast and retrieved all of Axelsen's attack which frustrated him. And LKY's athleticism was also top notch just by looking at his jump smash winners which Axelsen really got no chance of getting back. The level of LKY in that tournament in my opinion was very close to LD and LCW at their best.

    • @DC AC I watch his match against LKY and he seems less motivated, maybe because he win the tournament back in 2017 and thus he feels okay not to win it, I think another super 1000 grand slam would be his main target rather than WC, here in Malaysia, because he never won any super 750 tournament, he is more motivated.

    • I don't think he choked last time. LKY was playing unbelievably well and Axelsen wasn't expecting it. He just lost to the one guy in the tournament who had a chance to beat him. That said I hope he wins WC this year.

  • For Axelsen it was like a training

  • The big Dane is just a machine. Concedes only 11 points . . . . . IN THE FINAL !!!!!

  • Now I realized why lots of fan get offended when people (including me) compared Momota to Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei in 2019 - 2020, because you can defeat Lin Dan or Lee Chong Wei but you can not humiliate them under 5 as Axelson did to Momota, Momta should hang his boots, this is unbearable, Momota was plain lucky to reach the finals after getting two walkovers.

  • That was a massacre.. i’m a bit speechless... And i agree with a lot that have been said : Momota is not the same even since the Casino story and Axelsen….. he’s just somewhere else right now. It even crossed my mind that he might be stronger than… Lee Chong Wei during his prime…. Gosh 😭 big Wei fan. He was the best in my ♥️

  • And again…still most players love to lift the shuttle high against this monster smasher Axelsen! How many times he scored from it! You guys never learn 😴😴

    • I'm pretty disappointed by momota's game plan as well. His net play used to be his best attribute.

  • Viktor was better than Momota in every way possible in this match physically and mentally. I saw that Momota still had the potential to win future WC golds or Olympic golds according to his performance in 2021, despite his performance was not as good as his prime in 2019 but in 2022, his performance is way worse than 2021. I don't know if is the aging curve that he is not that young anymore. Maybe his fans want to blame the car accident, but it is hard to tell because he is supposed to get better as time goes if it is just the car accident.

  • Turning body 0, 1, 2, or 3 times before service is not fair. It deliberately drains the opponent of their attention. The rule should be updated.

  • Respect for Momota for not quitting the match when the Score was 20-4 or 20-7 lol

  • Wow…what a one sided game! Was there something wrong with Momota or was the matchup just REALLY against him? Such a lacklustre match to say the least 😵‍💫😒

  • 19:11 good rally from Momota

  • Payback time! Though I still wonder why has Axelsen lost his confidence in serve🤔

  • What is the style of serve (horizontal movement) that Viktor is doing in this match? I did not know you were allowed to move your racket like that during a serve.

    • He's moving his body, not the raquet which is why it is legal.

  • Training with friends in Dubai > Japan national center confirmed 😄

  • Momota is simple not enough stamina, energy to play with top players

  • Wish momota won this but its clear victor cleans sweep in all the departments…pure hard work…who can stop him?

  • The only player able to beat VA is Loh Kean Yew, with his speed and powerful smash. Viktor for the moment is nearly unbeatable.

    • @Soh Nee Nah, I think it's the other way around. I don't think the current form of LKY can beat Axelsen, but if LKY can pull out that form again, he definitely capable of beating Axelsen. LKY's attack in that WC was incredible sharp and I don't see Axelsen in any kind of form can defend that (may prime Chen Long could, I'm not sure). Only if he can prevent LKY from doing so which will be interesting if we can see LKY in that sort of form against Axelsen again.

    • @Diabetus Maximus lky makes too much unforced errors when he increases his speed as his basic skills is not good, but he is still young, there's huge room for improvement for him

    • @Soh Nee LKY has insane speed potential so if he mixes that with better tactics he can out play VA for sure.

    • I don't think LKY can beat normal version of VA this year, last year VA was just too exhausted and couldn't focus after back-to-back tournament. Only LZJ's powerful smash and Ginting's technique have better chance, Ginting must do the same as LZJ, try his best to win first set and drop 2nd set to save his energy.

    • @Khoi Also, many players have come close to beating him so if they make some small changes or realise that Victor hits the shuttle earlier than most players when he attacks, then they will stand a chance too.

  • The final match is the easiest one for Victor

  • So sad for Momota 😥

  • Crazy how Momota use to dominate Axelsen

  • Asli gk berkutik..

  • 26:03 good shot

  • Viktor is unbeatable …

  • 43:30 The audience are voicing about “Momota”! Come back stronger🍑💪

  • Axelsen✨Thanks God✨

  • Axelsen là vua cầu lông thêm vài năm nữa📌

  • the result is like a amateur plays with a professional player. 21-4 poor Momota :((, my favorite left handed player

  • Ginting and jojo is not that bad... good job both of you guys

  • Momota Xuống phong độ quá

  • Easy peasy for vego💯🙏🙏❤🔥🔥

  • Axelsen read Momota games well

  • 33:49 prfct shot

  • 27:49 good rally

  • Viktor played fantastic; but I am wondering if Kento is suffering from some sort of injury...

  • Insane

  • Shocking result 😅

  • Always a good day when the SC um fails

  • 桃田バック側のスマッシュでほとんど点取られてる

  • What's name of the shoes which Momota used in this match???

  • The Ang Mo has the reach yo!

  • Ain’t no fan for either Viktor nor Momota, but I felt most of Viktor’s major achievement were benefited from the down years of Momota, e.g. Bronze medal in Rio 2016 and Gold in 2017 when Kento was suspended, Gold in 2021 when Kento was undergoing a huge slump. Really hope to see Kento bounces back regardless, such a sad scene to see him underperforming.

  • Momota too passive and no aggression on court. Very disappointed to see such game play. Not taking your opponent seriously.

  • Was that really the No. 1 against the No. 2 in the world? I'm asking for a friend.

    • Officially yes, but not really. The world ranking is frozen for two years now, so it’s not reflecting all developments since then.

  • 私は残念だなぁ。桃田くんファンとしては。本来の桃田くんに戻ってくることを願っています。応援し続けます。

  • Current Momota is just a shadow of his former self. 2018/19 Momota would have put up a much better fight, 50/50 against Axelsen I reckon.

    • @MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO Axelsen has improved tremendously and is currently at his prime.

    • pre accident momota axelson h2h was 14-2 lmao. no where near 50/50.

  • How ironic the accident happened after the win in Malaysia 2020. It disrupted and derailed his momentum. Anyone know how it happened? I feel for Kento but still he overcame adversity and fought back to play on tour still winning titles and reaching finals, so proud of him. His golden Era was 2018-2020

  • no door for momota

  • This was not Momota we know...

  • Momota was found drinking in nightclub in Malaysia after this defeat. Alcohol and lacking of self discipline ruined his career, not the accident. And I don’t think he will come back since he is not as stoic as he was before.

    • No fake news our momotta will back he is king😎💛🥰

    • Really? I would really like to see a photo, vid or any links that states momota was drinking after the tournament. So bring the source please

  • Subarashii😊

  • AxelsenThanks God

  • If Momota still is not gonna wake up from his slumber and change his style and improve attacks after this super lost, then I think he should just retire lols he clearly is not interested 🤣

    • He's not fit enough, his skill is still there. His coach is bad, he need a new coach that would pressure him to train more.

  • Momota not comeback yet 😓😵

  • Không có cửa. Alex tay vừa dài lại khéo toàn đứng 1 chỗ đánh

  • gg for viktor. so sad but he really destroy mmt.

  • Does covid 19 effect Momota much?

  • Axelsen is too strong. And Momota is weaker too much. So the question now is Who can defeat Axelsen.

    • Ginting

    • Once a while there are many players who can defeat him on their day ( Lakshay sen defeated him in march) but there is nobody who can defeat him consistently.

    • lee zii Jia

  • momota 现在完全没有重杀能力了 跟随速度也下降了 靠磨对手是不行的

  • Axelsen has proven that he is the best player in the world right now. Though, he will probably want to win the world championship later in August to consolidate it. As for Momota, he is obviously still no where near of getting back to his former form and I'm getting a little worry that if he ever will. 2018-19 Momota did have amazing attack where he just used more counter attacking to set it up, but the current Momota really has no attack at all which made him no threat to most of top 10 players.

  • ViktorAhluSodaqoh,lemparRakett, bakalBertahanLama sbgJuara,,,berkahSodaqoh...yglain KiKirPelittMediit

  • Axelsen Training😄😃

  • People were more cheerful when rachnok won final same aren

  • i think axelsen biggest threat right now is LZJ and probably Ginting. and with that said, it still not even close. theres still massive gap between axelsen and the rest of the men's single's players. i thought LKY might have been it but his performance in the last few tournaments is not as good as last year where he won the world championship.

  • Only lzj's solid smash can defeat victor. You can't play rally if you want to beat victor, you have to play attack

    • that is false. momota pre accident h2h 14-2 against viktor playing rally.

    • @meshuggah man totally agree with you.... VA is very strong. But even he beats every player now and play those strong matches... the best gameplay i´ve ever seen is LD.

    • @meshuggah man totally agree lol. Chen long is also well past his prime. He got an Olympic medal and marriage, his career is going down hill from here

    • @t.c 90 NOBODY can challenge VA atm.. hes the monster, he will take all of the 1000 and 750 series, hes got asians player skills/speed with european player power..

    • @duy man LD in his prime would beat axelsen today. And Chen Long come back now (think in september). We will see soon if he can challenge VA.

  • where is the momota attack???

  • This is like Lee Chong Wei vs Lin Dan Era. Lei Chong Wei is just too short and Lin Dan Has bigger heart.

  • Momota spielt sehr passiv und scheint müde und nicht fit zu sein. Das sieht sonst ganz anders aus.
