  • Rafa looking much better than he did in Rome & Madrid, Let's hope the foot is holding up because he'll surely need that in the upcoming rounds!

    • I don't know, watch at 0:50, I think his foot still hurts a lot, I hope he will be able to face 5 sets in case.

    • Do I have to win all the Grand Slam matches? If someone loses a match, does he get out?

    • , 🕊🥰😘Fantastic🔥! * Now my core is burning indeed, but I'm Cloover.Monster not sure if the girls would have been equally excited of my performance like they were of Mel's😉!❤ And it's soo funny to see how much these overly playful girls actually kept of your attention 🤩.

    • Yea somehow the Philippe-Chatrier court made him play better

    • Oh, you again... Anybody can beat anybody in sports, why do you like your own comments? 😅 It's absolutely obvious, btw

  • Everytime he enters Philippe Chatrier he looks different Rafa altogether. It's like Lion in his Den. His footwork is popping, baseline play, heavy crosscourt shots and booming forehand. I truly hope he stays fit for two weeks then nothing is impossible. Vamos Rafa till the end.

    • @Žarko Bulatovic He had problems throughout the season beginning in Australia

    • @z1az He had problem after match with Novak. Before that he hadn't any problem.

    • @Žarko Bulatovic Yes, he had a foot problem. Remember he won only one more match in Washington DC after the French open and then shut down his season due to his foot. You can repeat "he had no problem" 10,000 times but it doesn't change the fact he was close to retirement because of his foot. That's the truth. You want to repeat "no problem with his foot" another 10,000 times? Go ahead

    • @z1az Last RG Nadal hadn't any problem.

    • @Žarko Bulatovic No, I disagree but I do hope Rafa's foot holds up and they meet in the quarter finals. If they do, game on

  • Rafa is looking good, hopefully the foot stays healthy throughout the tournament. Would be a pleasure to see a Rafa-Alcaraz matchup.

    • @neil billington lmao ok

    • Foot? There's always an excuse ready. The question is how doped is he. He never fails to peak for RG.

    • Rafa will have to beat Novak to play Alcaraz.

    • people!!! lets hope his foot doesnt flair up like a ticky torch. nadal has always edged Djoker when att near 100% Roland. however Djokos level is constantly att 95% playing safe tennis. nadals can drop below 95% and then its everybodys ballgame. lower your expectations. They are humans, not machines.

    • PuNk I think we ALL know any grandslam w/o Novak to go thru should have an asterisk next to the champion. Basically a mickey mouse tourney w/o Novak

  • I wince everytime I see Rafa running full-pelt. If that foot stays fine, he will be a match for anyone.

    • that’s a question for ortho experts, so i don’t have an answer for that. best i can do is tell you it’s a congenital issue, so it doesn’t really have a “why” like most sports injury that can be avoided or foreseen. chance had more of a role to play in it and just. life handing out a tough draw to him.

    • Do I have to win all the Grand Slam matches? If someone loses a match, does he get out?

    • @Ash interesting, why did his capillaries get cut off?

    • @Zr Mueller Weiss. Navicular bone. It originally started because his scaphoid didn’t fully harden as a child due to the capillaries to the bone getting cut off, and that got diagnosed in his breakout 2005 season. He was told he wouldn’t be able to play at a professional level for long but then Nike came through with customised insoles that distributed the weight from his left foot to his knees, which is what led to his tendinitis. The congenital scaphoid defect has since then also developed into Mueller Weiss. Google is free if you want to know more !

  • Honestly he must be the most humble hardworking sportsman of all time

  • This is why i love Rafa... he never takes his opponent easy.. from the first point he plays with such a high intensity.. never ever i have seen him taking his games for granted.. Vamos Rafa..

  • He's the best ever He achieved everything in his career in 20 years It does not matter what he will do now all these years Is at an age where it is already more difficult And with injuries like everyone

    • @thsu8 Novak Djokovic is boring

    • @Waqas Ahmed ya only plsyer in tennis history who has 21 freaking things...i repeat the only one.the mega one

    • @omc wtf are you saying ?!

    • @Waqas Ahmed Nadal is well above Jordan or Ali. The only difference is that he is not retired yet. Unlike you I wont say Novak cannot compared to these because he has 0 olympic golds, for example. It would be too easy.

    • @Godzy2011 Not Federer. Less Slams than Nadal. Less masters than Nadal/ Novak. Less weeks @#1 then Novak.

  • It's an absolute joy to watch Nadal play and right for every point

    • @Rafa Undisputed goat i wish that he wins it but with his recent injuries, he is not feeling comfortable.

  • Espectacular ver moverse a Rafa, ningún jugador transmite tanto, pura energía.Go Rafa

    • @Rafa Undisputed goat Alcaraz vs Tsitsipas will be the final, and guess who will win...

  • His left-handed forehand is a legend. Humanity should keep it remembered forever and ever.

    • @Red Heart He still is

    • Did you know Rafa was actually right handed?

  • Nadal made a few errors but overall he's looking great! The biggest takeaway is that his foot looks good right now. He's playing smart, trying to conserve his energy for the important matches. I hope he can get through the first week without any trouble so that he is fully fit for the tougher opponents.

  • Feel for all the players that draw Rafa in the first round. Damn those long flights and these short exits.

    • @SJ true..he is not Rafa fan but come here to jinx

    • @Rafa Undisputed goat You. You’re the one who jinxed him. If Rafa doesn’t win because of his foot injury, I’m blaming your copy-paste comments

    • Eh you get 50k for a nice 1 hour 45 minutes with arguably the GOAT, in front of a full stadium. I wouldn’t complain.

    • Well they don't fly to Europe just for the French lol. Its s solid 3 months before the tour heads to the US

    • 😂😂

  • If the foot holds, he's winning the tournament. I got zero doubts.

    • @Kevin Mousa Djokovic was great but Rafa's necrotizing navicular bone in his left foot was flaring up badly by RG 2021. His whole left foot and ankle were heavily bandaged in his SF vs Novak and although he fought valiantly he could barely move by the end of the match. He's admitted that for 2 weeks after he could barely walk and needed help descending stairs his foot was so bad. Had Rafa been as healthy as possible (never 100% because he has a permanent "injury"/condition, Mueller-Weiss Syndrome), would Djokovic of won? Perhaps. Novak deserved the win and was also lucky to get an increasingly wounded Rafa in that SF.

    • @Aleksandar Jokic He has left games when the injuries were too much. AO 2010 against Murray, Roland Garros 2016. He's a fighter, despite being in pain he'll continue to push through till the end if he's able to. If that's not true sportsmanship, I don't know what is.

    • @Helios2781 Of course it was fluke, nobody expected to Soderling consistently beats Rafa at RG, I don't buy his injuries if you are injured you don't play, that's it.

    • @Errol O'Driscoll only chance to beat Rafa at RG is before the final😂

    • @Rafa Undisputed goat If Rafa plays like this nobody can beat him.

  • Thompson's reactions were priceless. Let's go Rafa!

  • Court Philippe Chatrier looked almost to capacity. Were they there to see a Legend at the horizon of his game? Give us another, Rafa. One more French Open title.

    • @Jeffrey Kaufmann Nah. Alcaraz will probably be too much for him after this year.

    • @Chance Haye Nadal can win F.O till age 39.

    • @Chance Haye From your lips to God's ears. I want him to avenge his loss to Djokovic and lift the trophy in the end.

    • All I want is one more... the magical even #14

  • Everytime Nadal gets a point the crowd goes crazy.

  • Congrats Rafa! Hoping for him to win this tourney without great toil.

  • Nadal is such a beast, even injured he is going to be very difficult to beat. His tennis work ethic and point to point focus and intensity is above and beyond just about everyone. Great to see him moving well again.

  • I, as a fan of Djokovic, somehow can't help wishing Nadal to win here one more time. He's simply too legendary on this court. But, on the opposite of most people commenting, I still don't see him in a particularly good shape. Unfortunately. I think that Djokovic and most of all Alcaraz look much stronger today. And maybe even Tsitsipas. But he's a warrior so who knows.

    • damn as a Novak fan low-key wishing he was on the opposite side of the draw so it could be a Novak/ Nadal final

    • Tsitsipas woont be a problem for Nadal. He'll attack Tsitsipas' one Handed backhand like a Savage. Will need icepack after

  • damn nadal looked very sharp! usually, he starts kind of slow... i don't know if it's good or bad that he is so sharp this early on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • It's a good sign.

    • I was thinking the exact thing. I find every reason to worry.

  • Imagine if Rafa would have stayed healthy all the season. He would be at his peak now. Despite of that, he is always able to be over the majority of the players. Amazing warrior.

  • Pretty good start. Hard to tell. Sometimes in majors Rafa can start well and higher ranked guys get him later in the tournament like Djoker did to him last year. And other times he starts slow and finds better form later and wins the whole thing. So it's a mystery. Time will tell. Hope he wins though.

  • Congrats Roland Garros you made a vid longer than 3 minutes! Bigger milestone than Rafa winning 21 majors 🏆

  • 10 years ago Rolandgarros 2012 Nadal was on his beast form unbeatable Even cannot take a set from him

    • bruh no one cares, that was a decade ago, dude is past his prime

  • Nadal is such a joy to watch! I wish I had a 1/10th of his skills!

  • Thats a solid start of the tournement and important match for rafas confidence

  • That forehand that he just smacked down the line from far back for a passing shot? That is still very scary. With such a short motion, he can just pop that thing. That’s not just because he’s strong, but surely it’s because of his incredible balance.

  • Браво Надаль, браво! Боец, всегда на азарте.

  • VAMOS! If his foot holds up and he's able to build confidence leading up to QF and beyond.......#14 could be in play!

  • Man! That return at 1:06

  • he looks exhausted. never see him playing such shots before. it feels like he rather play some physically impossible balls instead of doing 2 more steps. but with his routine he easy forsees anything that can happen and if nessesary stumble into a volley for the winner. his hands worked verfy well and they and his brain compensated for his feet very well too. but against a certain very young powerhouse this is gonna be very difficult

    • @Rafa Undisputed goat dude. Seriously. Why do you post this everywhere. Do you have no life?

  • Que bueno es x dios ,!! Un ejemplo de deportista

  • Great to see him moving well again.

  • I believe Rafa should avoid longer rallies to keep that foot intact for what's gonna come in the second week of the tournament. He's seeded to meet Novak in QFs. That would be so awesome ❤❤

  • BRILLIANT! Thanks Rafa. 💜💜💜

  • Amar ver a Nadal, una vez más en su casa!!!!

  • He looked pretty tired after this. As much as i love seeing Nadal win this. I cant see it happening this year…

  • Insane top spins .... Great ball used specially from the way 2021 ball behaved ....

  • "Rafa has mastered the art of longevity in tandem with adversity" Next up Quarantine Moutet in straights!

    • Quarantine?! LOL

    • Adversity?......Murray faced adversity, Stan, Thiem, Del Potro.......these guys faced real adversity, with long term injuries that treatened their careers. Nadal setbacks were alays minor....and the two times that he took a "6 month injury break" were after Paris (July) and he and his fans always counted November , December and January, 2 full months when almost all professional players dont play.

  • Rafa out there looking like he’s ready to represent Australia in Davis Cup. Love him in the green and gold.

  • It's insane how far behind the baseline Rafa plays

  • he makes my day .... thanks rafa

  • Just wow 🤩 vamos💪🏽❤️‍🔥

  • This is what this man does… he absolutely rips apparat everyone at the French open and does that 7 times every year. Like a routine

    • What happened last year?

  • Vamos King! All the best! 💪👑

  • Unfortunately his foot's not good. His movement is therefore limited. You can see it especially during his serve. He barely jumps, his feet barely leave the ground when serving when you would expect him to hover ~20cm off the ground. He's a fighter though and much loved by the millions of fans. Hope the foot can improve, hope he can be pain free to really focus on his game and give the best players a tough time. Animo Rafa !

  • Nadal is Still Great on Clay but He is not even CLOSE to how Good he Used to be Years ago on Clay...He was in Another Galaxy

  • Nadal just warming up 💥💪🏼

  • Now this is fast French open tennis ....we will see more like this in the coming matches ....

  • rafa is always good at the beginning of the tournament but as the times goes, he became very dull due to his foot problem. I hope he is completely fit for the remainder of the year

  • Absolutely mind boggling what one has to come up with to earn a point off this guy

  • I love Rafa but Thompson is like the typical ‘free win’ so lets see how he fares in the later rounds. 22 would be amazing but i’m not so sure this year

  • C'mon Rafa, you can do it! 🍀🙏🏻❤

  • Espectacular ver moverse a Rafa, ningún jugador transmite tanto, pura energía.Go Rafa

  • Don't know how situation will develop with the current injuries of Nadal but this is his best outfit on Rolland Garros I have ever seen.

  • That’s one of best Rafas outfits in French open … looks stunning 🤩

  • Everytime he enters Philippe Chatrier he looks different Rafa altogether. It's like Lion in his Den. His footwork is popping, baseline play, heavy crosscourt shots and booming forehand. I truly hope he stays fit for two weeks then nothing is impossible. Vamos Rafa till the end.

  • i’m lucky to witness this guy’s greatness

  • Simple win for Nadal, hopefully he keeps up this level of tennis until the quarter finals where he may meet djokovic 🔥

  • in person LIVE & REAL line judges too. LOVE IT

  • This is why i love Rafa... he never takes his opponent easy.. from the first point he plays with such a high intensity.. never ever i have seen him taking his games for granted.. Vamos Rafa..

  • Happy for Rafa won the first match it's important...auguri Rafa..keep fighting u are the King of clay champion of 2022🎾🎾🎾2022

  • Thompson might as well have shown up wearing roller skates. This was a warm-up hit at best.

  • Let's go Rafa. Also I like this yellow outfit like last year's.

  • Vamos Rafa 🇪🇦🐃🎾

  • Thank you for the highlights! Moving forward, would you consider not making the thumbnail pic reveal who won the match? Instead, you could show a thumbnail pic that features both players. For those of us who weren’t able to catch the live action, we’d be more likely to watch the full vid if we didn’t know who won before clicking into the video.

  • Eres el mejor deportista de todos los tiempos. Has superado lesiones y eres una gran persona .no tienes nada que demostrar.pero porque no cerrar 14 que es más bonito que trece ánimo rafa!

  • King 🥰 Vamos !!!

  • Uno más maestro, uno más por favor!!!!!!

  • He must finish the match in early to avoid the foot over use. I hope he will win this RG2022

  • If Nadal keep up this momentum and health he will be giving the tournament a good run and competition.

  • VAMOS RAFA 👏👏👏

  • Vamos!!! Please Rafa hit out on the backhand more often!! Such a great shot when you hit it aggressively!!

  • Thompson should be proud. He got 6 freaking games out of Rafael Nadal on Phillip chatrier. An unthinkable fest for most.

  • Good luck nadal may the force be with you, hit them hard and deep. Love the drop shots then the volley to finish.

  • Thats a solid start of the tournement and important match for rafas confidence

  • Just noticed that Jordan Thompson has lost in the first or second round in almost every single tournament that he's played. Even in the Challengers.

  • El rey a vuelto...👑

  • nice 3 minute highlights Rg ,a minute for each set , thats amazing .

  • he makes my day .... thanks rafa

  • Vamos Rafa 💪🎾🇪🇸

  • NADAL IS BUT AMAZING ❤

  • Nadal normalmente, y mucho más en RG, sólo depende de su salud. Si el dolor es soportable y no sufre ninguna lesión nueva, ganará. Si no, no. Y dos semanas a cinco sets son muy largas, me temo.

  • Great to see he is locked in. Moutet is a tricky opponent in heavier conditions. Don’t forget he defeated Wawrinka in 5 sets, took thiem to 5 in 2020 and the reason was the effectiveness of his drop shots in cold heavy conditions. I hope the weather remains warm and dry but regardless Rafa has to be on guard against him and the crowd and cannot give up room on the baseline. On a side note, Goran is upto his stupid mind games again and trying not so subtly to pile pressure on Rafa.

    • @NicolasMTS Oh yeah, I expect that to happen at some point but if anything he is going to turn on full attack mode. I think that has been adequately proven over time 😁😉

    • @z1az Nadal will adjust his game he is just too smart and won't be outplayed by this arrogant dude. The only thing that can get in the way is the crowd and surely Nadal will get pissed

    • @NicolasMTS yes, of course. It's just that with the question mark over his foot, I am somewhat worried that moutet will try to make him run a lot (draw him to net or side to side), so Rafa has to be aggressive and not stay too far back.

    • Its fine to wrong because Moutet is just angry Gaston lol

    • @z1az I was kidding don't worry but I understand your confusion cause Gaston and Moutet play very similar both lefty and weird shots selection and style. But still I don't think he will be intimidated, perhaps a tight first set but once Nadal gets the lead he will cruise.

  • Court Philippe Chatrier looked almost to capacity. Were they there to see a Legend at the horizon of his game? Give us another, Rafa. One more French Open title.

  • 0:31 5x1, 1st Set, 1st Rd, easy match... What the heck are you doing charging after that ball, playing the most important tournament of the year on painkillers? Come on Rafa, give us some more "court IQ" at this point of your career, we want you to win this shit.

    • what?

  • I thought this might be a tougher match for Nadal but you know, God of clay over here. Oh well.

  • Go! Go! Rafa!!!

  • Nadal’s forehand is superb!

  • Yep lets see other rounds but looking solid so far 😅

  • ¡Vamos Rafa!

  • Everytime Nadal gets a point the crowd goes crazy.

  • Well even if Thompson lost he still has the xxx industry backing him up with that mustache

  • feeling inspired when Rafa plays tennis..

  • Really hope that foot doesnt flare up again. The world needs another rafa v. djokovic match

    • @Ambikeya Mohapatra An injury is an injury no matter when it comes.

    • @aman gupta Clay? Yes. Roland Garros? Nope.

    • @Ambikeya Mohapatra Rafa fans and injury 😂😂😂 tell me a better duo than this?? They never give credit to anyone who beats Rafa on clay....Like this year Shapo got the better of Rafa but his fans cant take it ..... they were like:- Shapo dont deserve this victory,Rafa was injured etc etc.Shapo always trouble Rafa ....Last year also he lost in rome vs Rafa after having 2-3 match points.... Pushed Rafa to 5 sets at Australian open

    • @TheFlash3237 Always excuses ... Djokovic defeated a fully fit Rafa on clay many times ....2011 madrid,2011 rome,2013 monte carlo ,2014 rome......Rafa was lucky in 2013 RG ...u also know that....last year also Rafa was fine until 4th set ...He did not play anything after RG because he knew if Djoko can beat him at RG there there is no chance he can beat the goat in Wimbledon and Us open.

    • @Ambikeya Mohapatra You're deluded. Look up on Mueller-Weiss syndrome and educate yourself first. It's a chronic pain which is almost always there and at times it's unbearable, which was the clear case last year. But no, you toxic fans just always find a way to throw shade at legends.

  • Hail to the Spanish God of Tennis.❤💛❤ Am I the only one that when I see Jordan Thompson and I immediately see the 'Mario Brothers'?

  • 1:29 Nadal's fighiting spirit👏

  • Si sigue jugando asi, Roland Garros esta mas que complicado para cualquier jugador que se enfrente a Rafa.

  • it is great to see Nadal back and playing so well. Thompson should have been disqualified for wearing those ugly ass shorts

  • This is basically when you come into a new video game and they throw you in the mix with pros who have been playing for years
